    Is my XPS M1710 good enough?

    I've ordered a Dell XPS M1710 notebook with the following specs:

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7400 Processor (2.16GHz,667MHz,4MB L2 cache)

    2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]

    160GB (5400RPM) SATA Hard Drive

    512MB DDR3 nVidia® GeForce™ Go 7950 GTX graphics card

    Vista Installed

    Will it run the latest high end games to a decent standard, or have i wasted my £1400 :p I want to play games such as Oblivion on good settings.

    Anyway, yea it will run Dx9 games easily at high settings.

    Well DX10 games are coming out, and you just bought a pretty expensive laptop that won't be able to play them.

    Dont worry OP, your laptop will be so out of date for gaming by the time direct X 10 is a requirement and there is no direct x 9 support that it wont matter.

    I don't think there are many laptops out atm that can play dx10 games well anyways so....

    In the context of life in general, all of us on this forum are dabbling in a hobby. And yes, your 1710 xps is better than probably 90% of the laptops out there as of this moment for gaming.
