Hi, I had a problem on my XPS m1330 where my monitor was displaying weird colored vertical lines. (see http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=204772&highlight=led for someone with similar problems) or http://imgur.com/v86ev for a picture of my screen.
Anyway, today a technician came by my house and replaced my screen. Thing is, I think he installed a regular LCD display, and mine was, according to my original order: 13.3 Inch Wide Screen WXGA TL WLED Backlit LCD with Camera, XPS M1330
We called Dell Support on the phone and they assured me that it was the same part. I disagreed and we alternated connecting both displays and I definitely saw a change. My old monitor had brighter colors and a better viewing angle. The technician said he didn't see much difference.
In the end, they are going to send another part to replace, but I want to know if there's somewhere I can check if this display is LED backlit or not. Maybe somewhere in Windows in Monitor Properties. It currently says "Generic PnP Monitor" and the Hardware Ids property says "MONITOR\LCD2306" (This is the new monitor they installed, the one I say is NOT LED backlit. My old one which I say was LED backlit they took.)
Can anyone with a LED backlit m1330 confirm?
Thanks

Part details such as brand, model, and Dell part # are printed on the back of the LCD. It might just be that you were given a different brand and that makes the color and whatnot different, not necessarily a difference in the type of backlighting used. When I had my Sharp 17" LCD replaced they put in a Samsung that was actually better looking, the Sharp had super saturated colors. Everyone I've heard talk about LCD replacements pretty much get whatever Dell is using at the moment, can be Samsung, Sharp, LG and the technicians don't have a way to specify the brand.

LCD is the type of display, not the type of backlighting. An LCD scree can be LED backlit.

Yes and LED backlit is best.

Did your screen get noticeably thicker? On the m1330 the CCFL lid is about 2x as thick as the LED one so if you didn't notice right away then you got the LCD screen... or maybe there's something wrong with your eyes

You got an LED backlit display. If the tech has installed a CCFL backlit display, he would have had to swap the entire display including the LCD casing, lid, bezel, camera, etc because the CCFL is thicker than the LED.
The LCD2306 is the Toshiba display. You can search these forums to verify.
Is my display LED backlit or not?
