I previously had a post about my speakers not working, and now I wonder if this is related/the cause.

I restarted my computer and after 30s-1m, I get that maxxaudiopro popup about the headphone jack asking what I plugged in. Except I NEVER plugged anything in!

So I am wondering if it is somehow sensing that I plugged something in there, switching to headphone jack output.. and as a result, no speakers when I don't even have headphones plugged in?

*Edit*: Had the dialog open and played youtube, got speaker output. Clicked OK, no speakers... still nothing plugged in though

Also, I should mention that I've tried multiple versions of the Realtek driver including from Realtek and the dell driver site, but no changes noticed. I do have "Intel High Definition Audio" as an unrecognized device/no driver...

I would call dell and get the daughterboard swapped as it has the audio socket.

Was on the phone for over 1.5hrs, ugh. Final step was they suggested a clean install and will be giving me a callback "soon". I just did a a clean install of windows from the media creation tool.

Very first boot, both speakers+headphones worked (no auto-switching). Then I used device manager to automatically update the drivers. Now it has the playback device back to "Speakers / Headphones" and I'm back to square 1: No speakers, headphones work. Is this just some driver incompatibility issue happening, or is it possible the driver is using the headphone jack sensor and thinking that one is always plugged in... or what!? Very frustrating :(

Well no one else is posting your fault and considering the driver update from Dell's site forces and uninstall>reboot>install if that fails after a clean install phone them back.

Okay so I picked up my laptop after a while and BOOM... speaker volume! Then it cut out... so I fiddled with it and it came back on. WEIRD.

It doesn't happen 100% of the time, but I took a series of videos that demonstrates the laptop switching between headphones and internal speakers on its own, when I tilt the laptop. No power cable or other components plugged in... just holding it and tilting it.

    Send the videos to Dell

Imo the daughter board is still at fault, no other explanation unless the mainboard connections are the fault. Please push dell to dispatch both main and daughter board but insist the tech 1st fits the daughter board despite his arguments as it isn't your problem he may have to do the job twice. He is on a fixed fee, quite a good one being a contractor so don't let him tell you otherwise.

If Dell act stupid tell them you want a refund and will be calling the credit card company for a chargeback (no one in tech is able to find out your payment method, only the refund department who are contacted once a return has been authorised and booked into the returns depot)

    Good luck.

I think you are right. My 9560 arrived with a faulty headphone jack. I could play music through the laptop's speakers, a USB DAC, Bluetooth Headphones, but not the headphone jack. A motherboard replacement later, and no problems, except for the annoying Maxxaudio pop-up every time I plug something into the jack.
