    Hello to All,
I have searched and found others with similar situation but no clear answers.

    SITUATION: XPS M1330 4GB 320GB XP/VISTA/openSUSE11.1

XP OS crashed; so replaced 320GB Hard Drive with Vista 200GB Hard Drive and received the same problem.
" White Screen of Death with vertical bars" appears.

Last night while using Adobe Sound Booth for at least 8 hours at work.
I was compiling a large program on the workstation and opened up a chess program on the laptop to wait.

The chess program rotates the board and as I moved it around to my choice of position the screen froze.

After a while I pressed the power button to close and on reboot strange verticle lines on screen turned into nv4_mini.sys infinite loop and crash
Again reboot and the message was nv44_disp infinite loop and crash

I let the laptop cool down and was able to boot successfully.
I got on the http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers website and downloaded what appeared to be the proper driver and modded .inf for me.

Halfway through installation of modded .inf the system froze and from this point upon pressing power button the " White Screen of Death with vertical bars" appears.

It has been full 24 hours and am not able to POST or Boot.
I have followed the instructions on the Dell Support site for faulty LCD monitor with nothing working.

I assume the Video chip is fried, which is why two hard drives are not able to POST or Boot.

Can anyone second my assumption with experience?
Funny I use a laptop cooler under the XPS at all times.
I am not a gamer and use the laptop at work or back in the bungalow watching movies on an external hard drive or external DVD player.

As it is Saturday I can only email Dell support.
I will have to wait till Monday to call them and that means at least two weeks or longer till this gets fixed.

May the Dell Gods smile on me! :p  :p

    Blessings,
    Chetanji

Yep.. seems like the graphics chip's dead all right... A mobo replacement is the only solution..

It's a pretty common issue with the 1330.. I am sure you know that, though.. :p
