When you buy it for gaming it sure does. The 7900GTX or 7950GTX are still the fastest video cards on the market. Not DX10, but still incredible fast. The 6400 has an X1400, which is 4x slower then an 7950GTX. The 9400 has the 7900GS (very good price/quality video card) but it the 7950GTX is 1.5x faster.

Indeed. Only you can judge the looks. Why don't you do a google picture search to find some real pictures. Real pictures usually give a better idea than the promotional pictures you find on the official site.

You can usually check them out at a Dell kiosk. Most Westfield's have one.

FWIW, I think the M1710 looks awesome. Wish they offered a 14" model though.

Do you really want to pay $$$ more for looks ?
The inspiron 9400 is very well built (some say the same chassis as the xps).
Build quality of 9400 is better than that of 6400.

    TO BE HONEST,

    I am a photographer.

I do red carpert celebrity events and also social events for clientsin sydney.

The reason looks are so imporatnt to me, is i ofetne visit potential clients

showcasing my work on slideshows with music etc....

    because of this

many people have said my business appearance will help / be a good look
    to impress the od client.

hence, i think that the 1710 xps may look the best / most modern / funky???

The build of the 9400 and 6400 is identical.
