I want to make sure they're not passing off an older model for this two-day sale:
Signature Event - desktops, laptops, TVs, Monitors | Dell
Also on a related note, how different are the i5-450 and the i5-520? This model comes with the 450 with $100 upgrade to 520.
-
It is the 1647 /w the i5 which is the newest available now.
The diff between the 450 and the 520 is just clock speed. The 520 has a higher turbo boost. -
worth 100 dollars to upgrade?
-
I think you'd have to decide that on your own. Think about your main purpose for the laptop and go from there. The 520 would be obviously better for gaming and other Windows tasks for $100 more.
-
I personally think the 450M is more than sufficient and not worth the $100 extra, when they both have the same clock speed/cache and just a higher turbo boost. The price just gets too high with the top models when the performance to price ratio is just not worth it. You will be more than happy with the 450M, and better off spending that 100$ on a nice laptop case and some accessories or just pocket it be happy.

I don't think so. If you're thinking about spending $100 just to upgrade your turboboost, you might as well spend $60 more and get the 540, which is better all around.. BTW, for a 'signature' sale, the prices aren't really much lower than their regular prices.
Is the signature special XSPS a 1647 or not?
