Is there 2 types of XPS M1330?
On Dell outlet I see some use SATA and some use IDE?

Also, does anyone know if the processor can be upgraded from a T5xxx to a Penryn without changing anything else?

I'm pretty sure all current M1330s use SATA drives. At least, according to the US Dell site, they all do. M1330s in the SMB section are listed as having SATAII drives, though in the grand scheme of things that isn't too much of a difference.

Then again, I do remember talking to someone about IDE M1330s from the Dell outlet... older variant, I suppose?

As for your second question, it depends on which T5xxx. Some are Socket M and some are Socket P. The Socket P ones should take Penryns without a fuss. You can refer to the guide in my sig for detailed lists.
