I have XPS 17 702X 550M 1920x1080 non-3D, after fresh install with all the drivers, monitor always show as Generic PnP monitor. Is there some driver can make it better, like more than 60Hz refresh or something? Thanks.

You don't need more than 60Hz refresh for LCD. The display on my XPS 15 is also seen as a Generic PNP monitor and so far I have had no problems.

I'm not sure if this is related...

When I got my XPS 17 L702X (same screen as yours), I did a clean install and the device manager shows I have a Generic PnP monitor with another unidentified monitor display. I also had the problem with nvidia and intel driver installations.

Anyways... after I installed the Intel Huron River and the Nvidia drivers successfully on the laptop, my display in device manager no longer shows Generic PnP monitor and instead shows the Intel and Nvidia (previously unidentified).

Not sure if this is related, but I'd say why not try installing and updating your drivers and see if that will make any change to your system.

Display Adapter and monitor are two separate things. I felt the white display is a little harsh, hoping some kind of monitor software can calibrate a little further.

As for all the drivers, just get the original c:\drivers directory and update drivers for everything single item in device manager, even if they say working probably.
