    Regarding the Dell XPS 13:

is there any way for me to set my keyboard back-light to come on when I start typing and turn off automatically when not in use?

Would like to have the screen automatically adjust brightness as well.

The keyboard back light turns off automatically after a certain period of inactivity but the wait time is upwards of 30 seconds I think and it lights back up when you type or use the touch pad. As for the ambient light sensor for the screen I don't think there's one. If there is I've never seen it work on my display.

My keyboard does not shut off nor does it light up when I type or touch the pad.
I have to manually turn it on/off.

Possible I have some sort of setting disabled/off?

Keyboard backlight does behave the way you describe, by default.

And no, no ambient light sensor on laptop display.

Is there anything I can do to change this?

Seems a bit counter-intuitive to have to keep turning the keyboard on and off.

There is back light key on the top row .. Click once turn it on " You can leave it there, It will turn on automatically when you touch the keyboard or touch pad" .. click twice to dim it down ..

    Mine just stays on indefinitely...

I apparently have some sort of software issue. On the phone now with Dell to hopefully resolve.

    Thanks!
