I have used my laptop for the few days after received it. Now it's getting very annoyed!! The fan is making a noise every 2-3 minutes. I have already set the graphic to be intel graphic. But the noise is extremely annoying even when I am typing now without any other program turning on. Only 1 webpage open!!!

If there is no way to fix it I will have to return it. I have used so many laptops. They are all quiet but this one is really noisy...

Please help or tell me I can do nothing about fan noise on XPS L502x. Thank you.

updated: I might be too sleepy. The level of the fan noise is OK. It's normal loud. But the problem is how often the fan runs. It run too often so the fan noise is annoying to me when I am playing on it. Any method to reduce the fan to work less often? or only run when doing hard stuff?

if you have any program or sidebar thingy accessing the temperature of nvidia graphics, it does this. Does that help? Other than that I did a clean install of windows 7 and don't seem to have this problem.

Its a commonly reported problem though.

The fan should activate only when your computer is on loads, if it's just sitting idle with decent air flow and the fans are still loud then it's possible that the fans were manually set to be 100% all the time?

Never had your laptop so I don't know if it's normally loud, but you should be able to control fan the fan speeds through the BIOS or some software. Google it. Lowering fan speeds may overheat your laptop...so be aware. Calling Dell maybe the safest route.

It's normal loud but it's just on often. I think it's normal for this model after having read a few comments. However I want to know if there is any safe method to fix the fan noise problem. I used many laptops before and their fan noise will only be on when doing tough stuff. But for xps 15, doing just 1 webpage, the fan is still run :(

You might be able to change the cooling policy through the advanced power settings menu. Some PC's support it but it's not all of them by a long shot.
