I have the XPS 15 with the 500GB Seagate Momentus model #ST9500420AS HD. When I first start the computer it makes a clunking noise, for lack of a better description and I'm just wondering if that is normal.

Are others with the same HD finding the same thing?

It is very normal. The hard drive pulls out the R/W heads from landing zone to the platters, hence the noise.
