Is this the GPU or something else?

Yesterday i got the BSOD NMI Parity check/Memory Parity Error message so i checked and reseated the ram and checked the fan for dust. Haven't run memtest yet.

Today it's reoccured three times, the third when i connected an external monitor within a few seconds so seems like it's gpu related, not least because there were alternating black and white horizontal rectangles the last two times! Also once when i rebooted windows hung on the starting windows screen and the logo graphic was corrupted. When it crashes i get the NMI message each time which is why i'm not certain whether it's the gpu overheating or something else. Plus my graphics corruption is different to some pics i've looked at. I get a pattern like a chequers board.

I took some pics so i'll try and upload 'em later. Cheers.

I tried streaming some video earlier and after a few minutes the image became quite grainy so i refreshed it and started playback. After a few secs the screen turned into a lofi 8bit fractal image then turned black followed by a BSOD. I didn't have time to get a pic but this is pretty much the screen i got: http://forum.notebookreview.com/att...0858d1258474565-again-bsod-xps-m1530-bsod.jpg

Forgot to say i'm running windows 7 ultimate on an M1330 with the Nvidia 8400M graphics chip. Coulds all this be due to a graphics driver issue???

It was the gpu. Dell are sending an engineer to replace the mobo on weds. I voiced my concerns about it happening again and they told me that the gpu has been replaced with a new one so this will not happen again! Has anyone had a new mobo with the new graphics chip?

What the? I've been told by three different people that there is a new graphics chip. They specifically said that chip is no longer used by Dell and has been replaced. Can't wait to hear what the engineer will say when he comes with a 8400M and i tell him this.

I spoke to an engineer today and he told me the chip has been revised. Will it still overheat though? Time will tell. I'm sure 4 people aren't going to lie to me, i mean if they were it would only backfire on them when it happened again. Somehow i can seem myself on watchdog in 6 months time with a rep from Dell justifying it somehow lol.
