Hey guys, I am new this forum and pretty new to computers in general, but I have been doing some research and bought the Dell XPS 1647. Please let me know what you think about this set-up and the price i bought it for. Also, does my set-up look prone to trottling/lag?
If anyone has a similar set-up, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts and opinions, Thanks!

That's a 1645, not 1647. Is it refurbished or new? That price seems good for a new 1645.
-
yea that looks really good
-
andonize- Sorry, i'm not too knowledgeable with laptops. Whats the difference between 1645 and 1647? It is for a new laptop on dells website.
-
The only difference is that the 1645 is quad-core and the 1647 is dual-core.
I paid $1160 for mine last month, which I thought was a pretty good deal (EPP discount, +10% off coupon). I have the exact same specs, except I don't have the upgraded 1080p screen, which is $75. Since yours is less than $75 more than mine, I'd say yes, you got a pretty good deal.
You should be fine as far as throttling goes. Those of us with the 5730 don't seem to have it nearly as bad as those with the 4670. -
andyrox: how did you get that price? Did you use EPP? I need to figure out how to apply for EPP as I need to buy some laptops for my business.
-
Looks good! Have fun with the agonizing wait for delivery!
-
-
-
Did you use a coupon? The basic set up starts at $1290.
-
This is an okay deal. I had a similar setup(difference being 4gb ram instead of 6) back when Bing had 25% CB for around $1000. of course, now bing's gone...
-
-
) and some people reported their CB's got cancelled. You'd still have to wait for 60 days even if it worked. Too much hassle if you ask me.
-
-
That being said, Bing saved my family close to $5k. Good while it lasted. -
Nice purchase!

Should i be expecting a 130 watt battery? if i receive the 90W, would it cause my system to lag?

Surprise, ppl still buy this buggy+pricy laptop.
Can you justify, Why one will not buy Sager NP5125 over your configuration of SXPS 164x with lesser price ???
Sager NP5125 ( $978.23 - No TAX in most states )

Now, you review this configuration against yours -
Well for one, the graphics card is inferior on the Sager.
-
RE: Sager - Unless Sager can send a tech out to my house next day for up to 4-5 years, I'm not biting :- )
RE: Build - I just got pretty much this exact build. Went through EPP, but added 3 year advanced service plan, bluetooth, blu-ray. IMHO, if you're going to go Dell, factor a long service plan with accident coverage into the price, since it's the feature that actually sets them apart from the competition. Even if nothing goes defective (it will), it's great to have a tech come to your work and replace a keyboard becuase the keys are sticking, or the old grungy palmrest because the mouse button doesn't spring anymore. I wait until my laptop looks really grungy and report damage to the outer housing, and then bam! Within a couple days it looks like a new laptop again. -

I Guess its a good buy.
Everything about this laptop is good except for the heating issue.
Can anyone help me with that ???
