Well I did not spend as much time researching as I should have but here is my build, please critique:

    WUXGA 1920 x 1200
    T9300 2.5 ghz
    256 meg GeForce 8600M
    320 gig hd
    4 gig ram
    8 x dvd/rw
    9 cell battery

    $1800

I rushed a bit and did not realize I could have gone for the 2.6 ghz processor, but will it be that big of a difference? Did I pay too much or is this about right?

First, congrats on your order. The XPS M1530 is a great laptop :)

You already have a good powerful processor, and AFAIK, the 2.6 wouldn't have made a huge difference... you should be fine and good with this.

The price - well, I think I have seen spec' with lesser cost around here, particularly with the coupons and deals and stuff.. So I am not sure.. but since you said you rushed a bit, I think it happens :)

Still, may be you could try calling up Dell and haggle them for any accessories that used to come with the M1530, gift cards, free stuff, possible upgrades or whatever!!! Some times it works.. So call them and try your luck :)

But having said that, the spec' as such looks good :) :) You should be fine with that spec and have a nice time once u get it..

By the way, what kind of warranty have you got? 1 yr or 2/3 yrs???? *just wondering if that cost includes a 2 or 3 yr warranty or something like that*

Thanks, I was thinking of going with the 15" alienware but seems like there are just too many issues. The M1530 seemed like it was the best combo of power and mobility for me.

Yes, I rushed, so no big deal. I wanted it now ;)

It is the 1 year warranty.

Hmm ok... yeah I can understand some times when we usually rush up on something :)

Anyways, now that you have bought it, there is nothing much you can do.. but still, give Dell a call and have a chat with them and see if you can find some nice rep on the phone :) Good luck.

Did you receive the computer yet? If not, you can renegotiate the price. You asked a question; you didn't request circumlocution and euphemism, right? So it looks like you could have gotten the computer for at least $500 cheaper, depending on your warranty. Either way, you got a real nice computer.

i rushed on mine as well, I did research as far as reading reviews and what people had to sar here, but I did NOT take advantage of any coupons or deals going on. Which is fine by me, I still got my laptop and I am extremely happy with it so far, as you will be. It is the best purchase I have ever made.

I got mine today after a long wait of two weeks. It is in the box just sitting on the table. I did not get any time to open the box and see what is in it.............but the box itself is very small and light .......so, good idea of the weight of the laptop :) but not of the included suff hahah......... ;)

I woulda went with the cheaper, faster, Lenovo T400 that has a longer battery life but otherwise I guess you did.
