Since i got the m1730, i decided to open up my old xps (it died from overheating) but any way took out one of the fans, and my god...the entire left heat sink had a wall of thick fluff stuck into it. No way on earth would any air get threw that, its no surprise its oveheated till destruction. Its a shame because a simple hour's maintance would of prevented it. Lesson learnt i think![]()

AMAZING! i just baked my nvida card, 20 minutes 200f in the gas oven, 20 minutes with the door open and oven off to cool, then anouther 15 outside the oven. Installed it all back into the laptop....alas its working again! for how long who knows?
Whats more shocking is i had poured half a litre of water onto the laptop a few weeks ago when it first went up the creak (dont ask) -

My joy was short lived, the laptop lasted for a week then failed again.
With my old insprion 9100, you used to be able to remove the fans as an entire unit, just like you would when you remove a laptops battery. So easy to clean. -
lol oven 200F? what rofl this is a funny way to fix a problem. Lmao maybe I should do that to my sister, shes acting bad, 200f oven, poof problem solved lol
-
LOL it fixed it, but only for a week, if you stick your sister in the oven, she will be alright for a week then fail on you.
Anyway the 1710 is on ebay as a spare/repair jobbie. Up to £86 at the moment
Just cleaned my old xps m1710...shocking
