My specs for my old laptop and the replacement are in my signature.
I tried playing Starcraft 2 yesterday in High settings and after a while it started throttling so I turned the graphics down to medium and played another match and it throttled again! Then I turned the graphics down as low as they can go and it STILL throttled.
The laptop came with BIOS A10. Anyone have any experience with A11 as far as throttling is concerned?

Downgrade to A09. I am running Starcraft 2 at 1600 x 900 Ultra settings, Shadows Medium, Reflections off and Framerate capped at 30fps and it runs as smooth as butter. And i have the power hog RGBled screen. Really thats all i can say -
Sweet, I'll try that. How do you cap the FPS?

open the variables folder in your documents/starcraft2........ blah blah you can find it. Locate maxfps or something like that and limit to 30

Question, how did you get the RGBLED with those specs? I have one atm, but might get a replacement, and see its discontinued. Reason i have mine with my 1645 replacement is cause i installed it my self after getting my replacement from my old one.

I have the same specs as you minus the RGB and i havent had any throttling with A11, maybe try that first before downgrading to A09?
-
It originally came with a WLED but since my original 1640 had an RGBLED I contacted tech support after I got the laptop and they had no problems sending a tech with an RGBLED to replace the WLED.
Everytime I try to downgrade, it says that my current bios is a newer version and won't let me downgrade. -
Flash to A08 first, as that is a 'downgradable' BIOS, then flash back up to A09. I don't know how much it will help you though, as A09 was mostly a fix for the 4670 people. You could also try A11, which is what most 5730s are using.

What about A09? Was that for 4670s or 5730s?
-
My bad, I meant A09, previous post edited. Try both A11 and A09 and see which one works best for you. Try A11 first though.

Thanks! Will try it tonight.
Just got a replacement 1645 and it's still throttling :(
