I know they have been out a while but they have only just become affordable for me. £1199 I paid

I managed to get a ebay special dell returned item....

3 years next business day dell warrenty.

    T9300 2.5 gb 6mb cache
    Duel SLI 9800 512mb graphics
    2x 160Gb 7200 rpm drives.
    4Gb ram

Its waiting for me at home as I write this.... Not even swtched it on.

Is there anything I should look out for with this model?

I went for the newer CPU's for heat etc, and the 9800 due to it having physx built in... is that correct?

    Congratulations on your buy!
Great price and great chioce. Great performance, I never had any problem with it.
I would suggest a clean install of OS as first thing, then an upgrade of the drivers from LAptopvideo2go using Driver Sweeper and Ccleaner.
    Then you should be ready.
Yes phisics is working on your gpus.
Run 3dmark 06 and Vantage to check if everything is ok, monitoring the temps with hwmonitor.

    Have fun!

Yeah OS install was second on list after I had a play with it... Comes with Vista 64.....

I can't wait to fire it up :D Wanted one of these ever since my brother got the 1710 with the 7950 graphics card.

At a later date do you think it would be a good upgrade to the T9600 CPU?

gt9800m=gtx8800m same cards. 9800gtx have slight better performance but not really noticable in games.

    Hahaha. Read this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=426693

I bought a 1730 with exactly your setup for about $4000 a year and a half ago. Graphics card stopped doing SLI in a year. They ripped me off by replacing them with 8700s. Then when I complained, gave me a broken 8800 that killed my computer. Now they're sending me a totally different model, a 1645.

Nice price and congrats on the Lappy.

Some friendly advice go buy a laptop cooler to help keep the GPU`s cool, my M1730 8800m`s have just failed at 14months old and Dell has no stocks so like many others stuck in Dell hell upto 30days, but glad to see you have a 3 year warranty at least you are protected if any trouble, the warranty is well worth it I took an extra 3 years on mine.

why dont you try getting the new M1730 or keep arguing that your XPS 1730 is not equivalent to the 1645 and that is a major downgrade which is not the contract between you two i wouldn't just laydown and accept it I mean i love my SXPS 1640 but if i had what you had then they tried to give me this i would be livid and no way would i accept it just my opinion tho

    What's a laptop cooler?

By the way, the touchpad on the XPS is LIGHTYEARS ahead of the one on the Studio I was sent initially. Seriously, people should avoid the Studio 1735/7 if only because the touchpad is utterly atrocious.
