Which software do I need to add/delete?

Anything important I need to update?

I'm just making sure that I get maximum performance.

    Thanks ahead of time!

For maximum performance you'll need to install the Turbo Boost software from the Dell drivers site!

Just let windows update do its thing and mess around with the power settings and you'll be fine!

    For "extras" outside of Dell:

If you want some good AV/Spyware Protection get this Windows MSE (and it's free). Runs "nice & light"

Download HW Monitor to check your temps, etc.

CCleaner is a nice System Cleaner

See this thread for nice freeware if you ever need it.

I use Sumatra for a good PDF reader/viewer. Nice light, no hassle.ease of use! :)

    Just some thoughts :)

    Cin...

Can I ask why? The description says that it's a widget that shows then Turbo Boost is doing something. Turbo Boost still works without it so far as I can tell (using Throttle Stop monitoring).

There's two. There's a driver and there's the widget, get the driver.

Isn't that only needed for 1647.. 1645 had it from the beginning.

Quick question, how many mWh should I have at capacity for the 9 cell battery?

I don't think the 1645 needs the Turbo Boost. The file at the support site is for the Widget.

If you notice even one system lock-up/freeze, get rid of Creative Soundblaster X-Fi software first, otherwise enjoy :). For me, that program caused more problems than it was worth, but maybe I was just unlucky. Also just go through your programs list and remove whatever programs you don't need, and CCleaner is essential as Cin' recommended.

I recommend requesting the Win7 dvd from Dell and doing a clean install of Windows off of that. It doesn't include any of the Dell garbage. Then, you can use the thread on this forum that includes links to the latest driver updates and install those.

Haven't had one issue since doing that.

Yeah sure the 1645 will have it installed already, but if the OP has a '47 then he'll need the software. And the widget is kinda cool too! :)
