I recieved my M1530 on Monday and I'm loving it. The screen in particular is fantastic and I was very pleasantly suprised when powering it up for the first time, especially after seeing all the posts about poor quality screens.

I checked the part number and found it to be an LG (Hardware ID LPLDF00) :D
This afternoon I took it into the garden, as we had the first bit of sunshine in weeks, to see how it fared. I was expecting the same as my 2 year old inspiron where the sunlight floods the screen and you cant see anything but I was wrong. It stayed really bright and clear and I think I could quite happily sit out and work for hours in the sun.

I was really under the impression that CCFL screens dont/cant perform like this in the sun. I'm I right in saying that the part number I have doesn't correspond to the WLED screen? Dell dont offer WLED as an option for the 1530 here in the UK. Also, my parents just got a studio 15 a couple of weeks ago with 1280x800 screen and its not anywhere near as bright as this one (they use theirs with a large window behind them)

if you have it then why ask? I also have it and i think it's very good. actually, i hooked it up to my HDTV (42" Toshiba) and i noticed the blacks on this do not fare well compared to the TV.. Argh. Now I really want to tweak with the computers color settings.

Just seeking other peoples views on this screen and kind of seeking confirmation that mine is CCFL. Everyone raves about the WLED so I would love to see how mine fares against that but honestly, I cant comprehend how a screen could be better than this. The blacks on this one are better than my TV (40" Sony Bravia LCD - and not a cheap one either) and all the other colours look delicious.

Compared to my Inspiron - which has 1920x1200 I would have believed anyone if they told me my XPS has the WLED installed - it really is that nice to look at.

I consider myself very lucky as I was getting rather worried about poor screen quality leading up to my delivery date.
