Guys i really would appreciate your help. I just ordered a 17in XPS and i have some questions. We all know most of the CSR aren't knowlegable enough to answer them:

    1.
The most important question i have is i've seen a lot of discussion on which machines come with 4 DIMM Slots (16GB Max) and which don't. I REALLY REALLY hope my configuration comes with 4 DIMMs because the work i do i definitely want to go with 16GB. From the discussion what i understand is that You will get 4 DIMM slots when you get the Better Video Card (555) and a 9-Cell Battery. Thats the only reason i even got the better video card. I'm not a gamer. Can anyone tell me 100% if i will have 4 dimm slots?

    2. You will see below that i ordered the better screen along with a Blu-Ray drive. I didn't get the 3d glasses. I'm pretty sure that i can do 3d since i got the better screen (i pretty sure i have the same screen as the 3d version). I will just have to order a pair of cheap 3d glasses from someplace. Can anyone confirm?

I would appreciate anyones help especially with question #1.

    thanks....

You need the 3D model, quad core i7, and the 3gb 555m in order to have 4 DIMM slots.

But i'm pretty sure it is same thing as the 3d model. Look at this specs:

    1. I do have a quad core. 2720QM
    2. I do have the 3gb 555m
    3. The Screen is exactly the same: 17.3in FHD WLED AG (1920x1080)

The only difference is the 3d version comes with the glasses.

Apparently the 3D model and the non-3D model have different motherboards, so even if you do get the right CPU and GPU but don't have the 3D, you won't get 4 DIMM slots, Of course, I doubt anybody's got a 1080p non-3D XPS 17 yet, so when those start coming in we'll know.

Ya if only the CSR knew there from a while in the ground they we would know. They make it WAY to hard to tell if your getting 4 DIMM or not. If you call up and try to get a straight story plan on being on the phone for a couple of hours.
