Well first of all don't you worry about your fingerprint reader - I'm certain it's a basic feature on any XPS system and, at least when I configured my 1530, I didn't have to specify that I wanted it.

And from what I have heard, the two screen types are Samsung and LG (at least for the 1530). Most people prefer the LG, and some complain that the Samsung is a bit grainy. I'm not sure which company manufactured mine, but I have never had a complaint about my LCD. At any rate, the 1330 has a sweet LED screen, and I'm sure, regardless of the manufacturer, you'll be quite pleased. But even if you wanted another manufacturer, I don't believe Dell allows you to specify. I think you'd have to send your machine back in and have them replace it.

    Congrats on the computer!

If there are things you want to change, call the sales number, and they'll do a cancel and re-order but BE CAREFUL. If the promotion you got your laptop under has expired you might get screwed. I know I did when I did a cancel and reorder the first time I tried to order mine. Good Luck.

    1 HR271 Module,Palmrest Magnesium-Alloy,With Out Fingerprint Reader,M1330
on the spec sheet.. i read something on the forum here about bad Led backlid screens, so i figured i'll try to find out what mine will be when it's coming.

    Hey, congrat's on your 1330 purchase! ;)

Once an order is *placed* you cannnot modify or add to it :(...*sad* ;)

You would have to have your order *cancelled* and then reorder, again..That is the unfortunate thing ;)

But stay positive, and no worries...until you actually get your 1330 in your *hands*, and you can actually look it over & start to use! ;) :D
Now, it's that *cruel* wait time.. ;)

    Cin. :D

    Sorry to disappoint you but it's a M1330 and not a M1530
I just wonder if the refurbs go out faster then the new machines.

You can't specify unless you buy the screen yourself. You can complain to Dell and have them replace the screen with another one. But there is no choice as to what replacement you'll get.

    1. I didn't know what kind of screen I would get- it's only luck.
    2. In device manager you go to MONITOR>PERFERENCES>DETAILS>HARDWARE IDS>--------
    there are 3 kinds:
    1. CMO1390=CMO=chai mai
    2. LCD2306=TOSHIBA
    3. the samsung detail I don't recall.

I've used the sammy and the toshiba.

Found the samsung to have better colours slightly but buzzed when not at full brightness and had bad viewing angles.

Man I have the CMO led one coming, so I am guessing I am going to have to make up an excuse to swap out the LCD panel when I get it?

    I had an issue with the CMO;
on the screen under white backround you could see 4 thin an bright lines few milimeters wide. Also under battery power the screen would flicker for half a second randomaly- very annoying.

I have been fortunate to see all three LED screens come by way, and I have to admit that I thought the Toshiba was indeed the best. That being said, my standard advice on the LED screen quality has always been to first look at the screen itself (don't look up the manufacturer beforing getting it in your hands). Examine the screen and see if you are happy with it. If you are, go ahead and keep it. The determination of screen quality afterall is a rather subjective topic, and ultimately, if you are happy with your current screen, why risk having a tech take apart your machine to get a "suppossedly" better screen?

You won't be able to just "put" a fingerprint reader in. The whole palmrest panel would have to be replaced for that. Even then I'm not sure it can be done =\.
