    Hi everyone,

I just went ahead and ordered a Dell XPS M1530 notebook with the following specs:

    Product RED Casing
    Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5GHz CPU 6MB L2 Cache
    4 GB DDR2 667MHz RAM
320 GB 5400 RPM hard drive
Full Hi-Definition WUXGA screen with TrueLife (1920x1200)
    256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 (will be installing Ultimate x64 SP1)
    9 Cell Battery
3 year NBD warranty, tech support, and CompleteCare

What do you all think? My original order had a 1440x900 screen and I thought I had chose LED but I didn't, so I called them today to up me to the 1920x1200 screen. Hopefully the new order shows up in the system soon so I can confirm it.

How long does it usually take for the new order to show up in their system on the My Account page?

Are you replacing your Macbook Pro with the 1530 or are you keeping both? There really aren't too many differences between the formfactor and performance of those two machines.

Keeping both, my girlfriend is getting the MacBook Pro and I'm using the XPS.

    Hey there,
Congrat's on your order..and a nice system! The 1530 is a great lappy!

The order acknowledgement should be e-mailed, and once you receive your order # you can check your account status/order info, online!

    Cin ;) :)

NICE! And your gf is lucky to get the MBP. What made you buy a new lappy within one year?

@Cin: Does that work the same way even when they modify the order? I haven't received anything yet, just an e-mail from the guy I was talking to on the phone with the listed modifications but no order number etc.

@ThunderBall: She needed a laptop, and quite honestly I don't like some things about the MBP... running Windows on it is strange, plus with 1920x1200 I'll have a ton of room for Visual Studio work etc.

Cool. Yes WUXGA is gonna be awesome for you! And I agree on the MBP. I would choose a 1530 over one of those too, oh wait I did LOL! ;)

Hey, ok...maybe I'm confused...so you had a order already in place, and received an order number for that already? And, then you modified the order that was already place? Usually, if an order has been in place, and you make any changes...the original order is cancelled and a new one created with a new order number.

So, you have e-mail confirmation of the changes made, right???? Even, if you went online to your account information..It should have the latest changes..There are several ways to access without the order number.

I would contact the Rep, and ask for the new order number verbally and by email w/case #...

    Cin

EDIT: The new order number shouldn't take that long to appear..and it would appear in your email stating Order Acknowledgent...it would appear at the top....maybe it's just taking longer for it to be issued.

Right, I have an e-mail from the representative with the two changes made to the order, I think he said it was going to take a few hours to get everything updated and a new order placed (this is being ordered with the Installment Plan) but he was hard to understand. Right now, My Account still shows the old order as In Production (that's all we see in Canada).

WoOT! WoOT! That's great news..I had a feeling it may have taken a little longer to get the new order number. ;) ...Are you in CA? Your delivery by Purolator, correct? Does your new Order Number reference a Estimated Shipping date? Alot of times you will get it sooner than the ESD, due to it being over-estimated! ;) :D

I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada. Delivery can be Purolator, FedEx, DHL, whatever they decide to use (I'll know once it ships). Order number references the 13th of October as the estimated delivery date. :D hehe!

Now showing as shipped, but the Dell Canada page doesnt show a tracking number. I'd imagine one should show up within 24-48 hours?

    It's shipped a good thing...Someone else had this happen...on the forum, I'm trying to remember where...And, no it wasn't a bad thing. ;) :D

You can call Dell and ask for the tracking number..they should have it! Also, it may have not been scanned into DHL's system yet, though it was generated at Dell ;) :)
