mblouir - I've had my XPS 1530 for a couple of weeks now and I'm very happy with it - its a keeper. I was disappointed that Dell cheated me out of the extra "goodies", and mine has a couple of unremovable fingerprints on the lid. Its played everything I've thrown at it (COD4, COD-WAW, SWAT4 and R6 Vegas2) with zero problems. Plus - I ordered a skin from SGP Store and it beautifully covers the fingerprints and protects the lid from scratches. I think you made a good choice - good luck with it!!

I think I'll be happy with the 1530. I don't need the blu-ray burner and being a college student a 17-incher is a bit too burdensome to carry around all day. I know the graphics card isn't the top of the line, but it should hold fine for what I need.

Thanks so much for your reply! It's nice to hear a happy 1530 owner--eases my mind a bit. What do you mean by the goodies they cheated you out of? I just took a look at the carbon fiber skin and it looks pretty slick yet still professional. How well does yours fit?

Congratz on the order! I've had my 1530 for about 1 week now and its been an excellent system. I would consider myself a moderate gamer and the 1530 plays EVE Online & World of Warcraft beautifully.

The only negative experience with the whole thing was the poor service from Dell regarding the delivery of my laptop and information provided to me from the phone support but again I must have just had a bad streak because I've always had great results from Dell before.

Im sure you will enjoy the 1530 very much!

    Hey there,

Nice choice on the purchase of the 1530! :)

I have had mine for nearly a year, and it's proven to be fantastic.

I'm sure the build process won't take that long.... ;)

    Congrat's :)

mblouir - the older XPS 1530's included (nice) earphones, a leatherette case for CD's/DVD's and a slipcase - mine did not include any of the three. The skin fits very well - I was surprised and impressed. The level of detail on the cut outs is pretty high-tech. I like them enough that I'm ordering another - I'm transferring my grey "leather" skin (with some trimming) to the Dell M90 I use and ordering the carbon fiber. Again - I am really happy with the build and performance of mine - and the LED LCD is very bright. By the way, I'm currently in the Mideast and have nothing to do with SGP Store other than being a happy customer. Quick shipment and impressive quality.

I too have had mine for just over a week. I picked one up after my HP laptop went out (already replaced the motherboard on my own dime twice). The 45nm CPUs run a lot cooler then the previous gen. The 8600M GT have been replaced with a new revision too, so the failing 8600 problem shouldn't be an issue anymore. I think from now on I am going to stick with Dell laptops.

I'm also enjoying my new XPS M1530. I got it at a great price too! If you don't get the earbuds, sleeve, and cd case, call them up and most likely, you'll get a $50 coupon!

Almost a year since I got my 1530 and it's been running without problems. Love the blu-ray player and the video is incredible when played with it. Congrats on your order and never mind what other people say otherwise.
