They had an advertisement on their website that said "Up to $588 off select 15 inch notebooks" so i clicked on that and it was like $1199 starting price. So then I downgraded the screen from the 1680 x 1050 to the 1200 x 800 which brought the price down like $125 ... then I downgraded the hard drive from 320 GB to 250 GB and took off the bluetooth card they had on it. That brought it to about $1000 even ... then the college I am going to had a discount program so they took an extra 4% off of that. So then I added the mouse and they added tax and it came out to the price you see there. However I do believe that the deal I got said "Expires 7/21" so you all might be out of luck.

I don't have a link sorry ... I wish there was something I could do to help. Who knows call up Dell and give them some BS story about how your computer fried right before you were going to order it so you want the old price. It's worth a try ... thats the only advice that I have ... good luck.

HAHA I tryed talking to dell already earlyer today. I ordered my xps on the 16th, and then canceled when i saw this deal. They said it would take 72 hours for me to get my money back to purchase this, but of course it dident lol. I went to the bank came back and boom..gone. They would not give it to me no matter what and acted like it was never there. U are lucky man, Congrats

Well thanks, I have been deal shopping for laptops for about a month straight now and it all started when I went to buy an HP from Staples for $699 and they had sold out of them already (which now that I look at it was a good thing). Since then I have learned a lot about laptops and figured out that the $699 HP I almost bought was pretty much crap. I had my heart set on getting an HP for the longest time but this deal def rocked my socks ... I hope it all works out.

You do get amazing deals in the US :-(

I paid £718 for that same setup but with:

    + Screen upgrade to 1440x900
    + 320GB HDD
    + Bluetooth

    - 3GB RAM
    - No Laser Mouse

You got your spec for about £525 approximately, a much better deal :-(

Suppose it isn't THAT simple though, you have to factor in that we always pay more for electronics in the UK and there are many reasons for it. Things just cost more here!

When mine came with the upgraded screen I thought for a second and figured that it really wasn't worth it. My HDTV is 37" and is 720p ... games look amazing on it ... this screen is only 15.4" and has pretty much the same resolution. I just can't imagine seeing much of a difference and games will run better at 1200 x 800 than they will on 1440 x 900 ... so oh well.
