Initial EDD was 21 Jun 2010.

They also initially scheduled a delivery for 15 Jun 2010. But that didn't eventuate.

I'm now repartitioning and about to reinstall Windows 7.

I got an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 - 1GB.
Despite my order being for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 - 1GB
But I'm not going to complain.

    Price for your configuration ?
Is it worth the $ you spent ?
Are there no other laptop with similar specs with lesser price ?

I wanted to know this coz I'm also a prospective buyer but worried for its heat/temperature issues and not having switchable graphics option and USB 3.0.

    I paid: AUD2,211.91
    That includes a 10% discount.

As for how it runs. Too early to tell. I've only just reinstalled Windows 7. I'll do a proper review after a few weeks worth of usage.

So far I have noticed that it is a finger print magnet. But I suspect I'll get used to that. But it looks very good and the leather is a nice touch. While reinstalling Windows it did get warm but not so warm that it was uncomfortable. Actually seeing as I'm heading over to London it's probably going to work out well as a hand warmer during those long nights of game playing... :p

Additionally it weighs in at 3284 grams / 7.24 pounds. That's without the power pack.

Just judging from carrying the box with my laptop in it for about a 15 minute walk. It's not something you want to carry one handed for extended periods. Definately something to put into a backpack.

Very nice! Grats on a sweet lappy :D

A backpack (or good Messenger w/good shoulder straps), is a good idea! Any thoughts on what brand? Swiss Gear makes some nice backpacks :)

Oakley AP 3.0 pack is amazing for this notebook. A little pricey, but you cant beat carrying a notebook (up to 17in) all the accessories you want and still room for either books or clothes. I actually just did a weekend at the beach with this pack alone.

I'm using my old Targus backpack which I got back in 2003. It's just like the Oakleys.

As for reviews. Give me time. I've only been installing stuff. Haven't had time to load games. I'll create a new thread with my review and thoughts once I've put it through it's paces. So far it's been very good. The screen is very sharp.

I'll provide my first thoughts though. I think the 16" screen adds a decent amount of weight to the laptop. So if you want something lighter you might want to consider getting the 15.6". Could anyone confirm by weighing their 15.6" 1645?

Additionally after installing everything from the Dell driver's site I have two devices that have missing drivers. From the Device manager > PC > Other devices > Base system device.

Just to answer my own question. It was just the card reader drivers. I thought I had installed it but apparently I didn't.

How did you get an RGBLED screen on a 5730 GPU 1645?

edit: NVM I see that Dell AU gets not only the new i7s but also an RGB screen option. Now Im a little jealous.

Well his laptop is probably going to throttle to hell and back so don't get too jealous, you seem to be the only one not having any issues liquid...

Well at one point I wasn't throttling either, but after an in-home service in order to replace my motherboard, heat sink and keyboard, I started feeling it when I was on battery. :(
