You got the intel chip, that should remove the majority, if not all, the problems from the M1330. Most problems are related to the nVidia GPU.

Just turn it on and play around and try to do what you intended to do with it. if everything works fine, enjoy your new laptop :).

True that, I didn't think about that.

In case you don't know, bloatware = all the unnecessary programs that comes preinstalled on your system. There's some good threads about removing them around here somewhere.

There's some more ways to streamline your computer to make it boot/shut down/run faster also. A good thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=166532

    Hey there,
Congrat's on your new 1330!!! What a good feeling, eh???
I'm sure you will really enjoy it!

I know someone linked Les's *NBR Vista Tips and Tweaks Guide*
But were you planning on doing Les's guide for reformatting & removing bloatware, at all? I did both of Les's guides when I received my 1530, and everything went really well ;) :)

    Here it is:

Good luck to you and....love that new lappy of yours! ;) :)

    Cin ;) :)

Yes, as cin said, you could do those two... and it should be a great system when you are done.

Else, if you are not really sure about a complete reformat/reinstall, just do the tips n tweaks guide thing... you'll see a reall good improvement in performance :) and in any case, i personally dont think dell come' with much bloatware (at least the 1330 and 1530) these days... that is if you dont consider the media center thing as bloatware..

I would (I did) update the drivers for the network card, video, etc., given your system config. I'd also update the BIOS to A12, given your config, but there are different opinions.

Question on that link - is the real info at the start of the 111+ page thread, or do I have to read it all??? %^)

Yes, updating bios is recommended, however, more for those who have the 8600gt compared to the integratd graphics card you posess.

The bios update only increases the fan speed to cool the nvidia card which will cut your batterylife and the longevity of your notebook. You gotta choose which one you want. The card lasting longer(hopefully), or lower batterylife and more noise from your PC.

yea i know. but look at his specs, he has the integrated graphics, NOT nvidia. so he doesnt necessarily have to update his bios if he doesnt want to.

    OHHHH SHIIIIIIII

I forgot, actually go into device manager, click on network adapter and click on the wireles one, go to properties and uncheck the first box "allow computer to turn this device off..."

This will save you from a potentialy high heat experience while on standy or sleep mode.
