    FPS drops doing what, exactly?

You shouldn't need any special drivers, but I've never used SLI before so I don't know how that affects things... Go to laptopvideo2go.com and get new graphics drivers - can't hurt.

I'd turn off all unnecessary services like drive indexing and search index. turn off the page file if you can. Also, set the power management to always on/ highest power. go into the video card power management and turn off any power management...

Then reformat the hd and install Windows XP. that should about cover it.

Usually not neccessary anyway, and I'd be very hesitant spraying anything on your GPU.

And, forgive me if I'm asking stupid questions, but you do get that you'll experience framerate drops as a matter of course depending on how much is going on on the screen, right?

no, alot of explosions and the fps is normal.. just being idle and the random fps drops it drops by half.

o_O If your card was running consistently at 120C, you have possibly done some serious damage to the card... My advice would be to remove the GPU, clean the contacts and the socket on the motherboard, and if that doesn't help, get your GPU replaced.

Any idea why the thermal cutouts didn't lock up your computer before it reached temps like that?
