This is the player I use as well, by far the best player! I haven't noticed any specific problems yet. Try resetting the settings to default and see if it fixes the problem. The skipping used to be super smooth on another laptop on mine, but on my 1640 there seems to be a slight pause, but I am guessing it may have to do with Windows 7 comp. This player isn't been updated for sometime, so hopefully the new update fixes all the problems.

I've got the same problems on my XPS1645, not only the bad quality but KMPlayer also crashes my system if i use it to watch a video. The first 15-20 it runs fine but then i get error messages from the ATI driver and if i continue the whole system crashes and i need to reboot.
I solved it by using Mediaplayer classic instead of The KMPlayer. -
use mpchc with dxva instead

NB: As i said u guys, my house mate (3 of them) has got windows 7 ultimate version, and they r running kmplayer just amazing. one is without any dedicated graphic card and other two have nVidia graphics card.. -
Windows 7 has an amazing built-in decoder for those and tell me how it goes. The quality is amazing for me and now its perfectly smooth! This is byfar the best video player, please tell me if it works! -
Also try this:
Video Processing --> Renderer --> Enhanced Video Renderer (C/A)
To enable advanced menu: Right click > Options > Advanced Menu
Better performance
Right click > Video (advanced) > Preset Performance
Better quality
Right click > Video (advanced) > Preset Quality -
I feel kmplayer is heavier than mpc-hc and other mpc based player.
-
use VLC 1.0.3 seems to work super well with 1645
-
VLC doesn't support dxva.
-
Get http://shark007.net/win7codecs.html and you can run anything with MPC / WMP.
-
The following METHOD work somewhat but still not expected.
Also try this:
Video Processing --> Renderer --> Enhanced Video Renderer (C/A)
To enable advanced menu: Right click > Options > Advanced Menu
Better performance
Right click > Video (advanced) > Preset Performance
Better quality
Right click > Video (advanced) > Preset Quality
NB: ANY OTHER IDEA GUYSSSSSS PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZ -
Listen, just reset all your settings to default for KMPlayer and it should work smoothly. If that doesn't fix it, then try another media player with the same video file - if both are bad, then you need to get newer/different drivers for video card.

I like MPCHC. I can't speak for KM player, but VLC is garbage compared to MPCHC. I was using VLC for years until @720p on my older pc. Then I got this machine and tried to play 1080p and it lagged like hell. I found out about MPCHC, and that works perfectly.

Dude.. that player is trash.
Is ASK.com your main search now
With that said.I had no problems playin videos with good quality in it after it completely took over all of my video files without asking me what so ever before hand.
Not a good player at all
MPC-HC -
Let me know how it goes! And this player is the best player out on the market, I have never seen a player more customizable than this, its amazing for the advances user. And no need to install any codec packs. I have tried many players and none have compared to this so far. -
KMplayer also violates ffmpeg's software license. Besides that it seems very ugly and slow to me.
Of course none of these free players are completely legit. -
