Keyboard and trackpad stopped working. Neither responds to any input. External USB mouse is working.

Just before this failure, I installed some MS updates from Windows Update.
I selected to install optional update for Microsoft USB mouse, but during update installation it then tried to install Microsoft Intellipoint software (which I don't want, as I will not normally use a Microsoft mouse). So, when the licence agreement window appeared, I did not accept and I clicked Cancel. After reboot on-board keyboard and trackpad stopped working.

Could the keyboard and trackpad failure be connected to cancelling Intellipoint software installation, or to the mouse update, or is that coincidental and have I simply hit some key combination that toggles off the keyboard and trackpad?

After multiple reboots, everything works again. Strange.

There is a key combo to disable the trackpad, but not the keyboard. It's one of the FN+key combos, FN+F2 or FN+F3 iirc.
