I have noticed that the backlighting on the keyboards does not look as bright and seemingly on both sides of the keys as it did when I first got my computer. Did I accidently turn off some function and if so what would I need to do to restore the keyboard lighting back to what it was origially?

Has anyone else noticed a similar keyboard lighting issue?

Sounds like the LEDs on one side of the keyboard are failing. Does it happen in each lighting mode using the FN keys? You might have to buy a new keyboard, they can be rather cheap:

Or if your still under warranty just call up dell say that your keyboard is defective and I'm sure they'll have a tech come out and switch it out for you.

    Good luck :)

Try FN+RIGHTARROW first. It cycles between bright -> dim -> off

It seems to be the lighting around the individual keys. It seemed to me that initially there was a light above and below each key. The letters on the keys light up though.

Personally it annoys me how the LEDs underneath the keyboard shine through the cracks between the keys. Its not so bad on the dimmer setting but on the bright setting its quite distracting. The only way I can't see the light shining through is if I look directly down at the keys from above them. I mean seriously, who actually types while putting their head directly over the keys and looking down. Its ridiculous. they should have made it so that when looking at the keys from a front angle no light shines through.
