Hey everyone. My laptop's warranty recently expired around 2 days ago. I was wondering if it's worth extending/renewing the warranty. I remember buying the laptop for around $1,555 (tax/shipping etc) a year back... lol..

The pricing on the website gives me :

One year. Basic Next Day Onsite after Remote Diagnosis [$179.00]
Two years. Basic Next Day Onsite after Remote Diagnosis [Add $91.12]
Maximum duration. Basic Next Day Onsite after Remote Diagnosis [Add $198.74]

Would I get better pricing if I just called?

This past year, I had to have the technician replace my motherboard, fan, as well as the AC Adapter. Main reason of the replacements was because whenever I played games such as L4D2, CS:Source, the whole screen would freeze up or black out and the sound would be looping. Sometimes I was able to have access to the task manager but majority of the time, I had to hold the power button down and restart it.

Also, is this additional option even worth it?
Accidental Damage Service - DELL [$120.00]

What do you think I should do? I can't make up my mind.
    Thanks in advance!

I would definitely extend your warranty at least another year, it's much cheaper than repairing it yourself or buying a new laptop if anything goes wrong and Dell will always look after you once you are within warranty, even if you have fight for it!

On a side note, did replacing the motherboard fix the stuttering issue? I am having that issue now, especially when playing video over hdmi, video will freeze with looping audio requiring a hard reset!! It happens when gaming too, but not as often!!

Thank you for the reply! :)

I'm not sure if the hdmi issue is the same as mine but it was either replacing the motherboard or getting my AC Adapter replaced that stopped it. I can now play the games without any of the previous issues.

Considering refurbished L502x boards are like 175+ on eBay. So one part will easily be the cost of the 1 year warranty. Also Dell for 1 year will fix unlimited issues with your unit, provided it is not CID (customer induced damage) unless you have CompleteCare. I say it is worth it.
