    Hey People,

I was very happy to receive my L502X today. So far I've loved it but I have one big problem.

When I set the laptop on a steady table it shakes one one side when I put my hands to type. I discovered this and thought that maybe the rubber bumpers on each corner of the extendent 9 cell battery must be missaligned. So I took the battery pack off and put it back on the table again. This time it was resting on its 4 original "bumbers" and still on the lower left corner the bumber was not touching the surface hence the whole thing shakes when put my arms on it to type.

I am very upset with this imperfection as it is highly annoying when the laptop rocks back and forth.

    My question to you:

Does any of you experience the same issue? is it like I fear a missalignment of the entire frame or is it just one uneven "bumber" which is causing this "rocking" Strange thing is that the rocking is there with and without the battery pack installed. Can you shed some light on this.

Also, how would you proceed. Would you just "add some substance" to the bumbers to make it even or would you call dell?

I've already waited long enough for my dell and I don't want to send it in and wait for it even longer only to have them open it up and refurbish it but I am very unpleased about this and don't know exactly what to do.

One last quesstion: Will this missaligment affect the internal components of my xps or cause any sort of internal damage over time?

Thank you very much for your input

Call Dell. They should be able to send you a replacement for exchange, where you keep the laptop in the meantime. I don't have that problem.

do you think that when I order a replacement they will send me a refurbished laptop? if so how can i check if the new one is really new or refurbished?

I am really pissed that I have to go through this now because they can't do the most basic of quality checks

and any idea to if the missaligment is really a frame missalignment and if it can influence the internal functioning of the device?

Since you just got it, they have to give you a new one. And since it just came out, there probably aren't any refurbished versions around anyway.

It's hard to say whether it is a problem for the internal functioning. It could be the case is bent, or it could be that one of the bumpers is not the right height.

Is there any way I could find out if its the chasis. Or the bumber?

I've called support. The frame is missalligend. They will send me a new device, AT LEAST THEY SAY ITS NEW. I am a bit paranoid that its not going to be new but I specifically asked for a new one and they confirmed that it will be built anew. In the meantime I can keep my old one and wait until the new device arrives. After that they will come and collect the old one.

    Good solution?
