    @FlipBack

    A011 0.83v/0.85v for 540m right?

    I'm pretty sure that bios is correct.

    following users tested it without any issues.

    ximinez,Matrix5,carlmike2007,SemperEgor and sweetnsour.

    I usually like to add users wich sucesfully flashed the mod to the first post to prevent future issues related with that bios.

    It may be related to some driver issues changing the voltages.

    it also could be related the monitoring software you are using report unacurrate readings.

    some people said nvidia inspector wasnt giving correct outputs.

    so I recomend Hwmonitor as an alternative.

    let me know if that works and I will add you to the first post ;)

    Indeed, HWmonitor reports .85V in game. Thanks!

    Hi, I was wondering if you could make a version for the A06 bios? I dual boot with OS X, and only the A06 bios allows for sleep, so I'm stuck with that.

    sure

    however since it is an older bios, I will just mod them by demand.

    just let me know what GPU you have and the desired voltage settings for 2d and 3d profiles so I can mod that bios for you ;)

    Hi, I have XPS l502x with nvidia GT 540m. I always have game crashing issues (like many others) tried replacing motherboard, however, it continues to crash after 2 months of replacing it.

    By some chance, I found your post, tried your flash mod A11 83v and 85v for gt 540m, but I am not able to monitor my voltage via nvidia inspector or HWmonitor.

    nvidia inspector just shows 1.0 voltage no matter what and HWmonitor actually crashes when I run it, and I can not turn off HWmonitor when it crashes unless I restart the computer.

    So I am not sure if the flash mod had succeed or failed.

    And is there another way of fixing the crashing issue?

    Thanks

    mmm, that is weird, both nvidia inspector and HW monitor working fine for me.

    what nvidia drivers version you have? I'm using 304.79.

    well, if the flash failed, you probably will not even be able to boot up the computer, so I think its just some software issues in your case ^^

    try getting the last version of the drivers, however I think the problem isnt driver related.

    try close all unnecesary programs, and download the x64 stand alone version of the hwmonitor, it shouldnt crash in mormal conditions.

    in last case you can keep gamming and check if the crashes still there with the undervolted version, however a monitoring app such as HWMONITOR or nvidia inspector is recomended to ensure the mod is running properly at your computer

    I just tried Guild wars II with 0.83 and 0.85 A11 mod, I used the nvidia inspector. Before the game started, the voltage shows 1.00v. While in game, it actually shows 0.83v. but the game crash almost immediately after I switched back to game :(

    I am going to try the 0.85v and 1v mode and see what happens.

    let us to know about your progress

    its so weird the monitoring software crash for you, no one else had that issue, make sure those exe files run with the intel graphics at the nvidia control panel (some non 3d/desktop apps like Windows live mail crash when they run with nvidia gpu)

    @TehCapi
    pleased to be helpfull ^^

    its so crazy dell didnt fixed the problem oficially and make us go for modded bioses xDD

    Hi, I'd like to know if there are any known problems with those bios and which one is actually better (guess a10 cause it is the latest, no real clue whatsoever)

    @lanfratta

    nope, there arent any known problems for those modded bioses, the 0.83v/0.83v is well known to give some problems for most users but it work fine for little people.

    however 0.83v/0.85v (the ones you quoted) are the ones wich give better results to almost everyone.

    A11 is the latest one.

    I flashed 0.85v and 1.00v. Logged into Guildwars II, crashed the moment when it finished loading the map.

    So I flashed back to the original mod. Same thing happened.

    So far the most stable mod is the .83v and .85v. However, it still crashes sometimes, but not all the time.

    @jingtai
    yeah, that one seems the most stable for most people.

    however in your case it seems to just improve the situation,but not fully fix it.
    so you will need to also underClock the card a little, try getting MSI afterburner and decrease the core by 5 mhz per time until it stop crashing.

    gt540m is at 675 mhz at default, you will need to lower it a little until it stop crashing.

    it will decrease performance a little, but combinating this with the undervolted bios hopefully you will not need to underclock so much.

    lets hope it get stable arround 660 or 650 mhz

    Actually, .83 and .85 mod had not failed me yet.

    I realized one common thing when it crashes after using .83 and .85 is that when I plug in my earphones and play music while playing guild wars or any other games.

    Normally, if I just play games or musics alone, it won't crash.

    capitankasar, I found out that my problem is because the CPU voltage raised. Could you tell me how to modify it and what are your voltage states?
    I doubt there is any difference b/w i3-2310m and i5-2430m. My CPU is stuck at 1.08...V, and it should be something like 0.9... V I think. Sometimes it changes the voltage, but mostly it's over 1V.

    @jingtai1993

    mmm, you can try lowering the GPU core a little more, also try updating the audio drivers, but not sure about the issue.
    using the mod you have and lowering a little the GPU core should be enough ti fix any GPU crashing issue, make sure you also have latest nvidia drivers.

    @xpsuser1234555

    I didnt modified the CPU voltage at the bios.

    well, I didnt modified it at all with any tool, and I doubt we can easly do that without hardware modding or deeper levels of bios modding.

    using thottlestop I was able to notice it is usually 1.08 / 1.10

    but I never modified it, I just modded the GPU voltage settings by modding the bios

    @alvester

    nope, I didnt tested them yet

    on every nvidia driver update I have to fix my advanced 3d apps configs by tweaking profiles with nvidia inspector , because new driver update kill some of my configs >.<

    I gave a read to the changes for 306.02

    aparently not big changes:

    this and more info here:

    http://es.download.nvidia.com/Windows/306.02/306.02-win8-win7-winvista-notebook-release-notes.pdf

    I think I will stay at least a little more with current drivers, they just work fine, anyway if you are installing them It would be nice if you let us to know if you noticed something different from previus drivers such as higher FPS, more stable OC ... or something else interesting ^^

    Yesterday I installed the moded BIOS for GT540 .83 .85. Strange thing though the low VID's are as said .83 but for some reason when I stress test the computer or am in a game the high VID's are 1.000 v ... what's up with that. The tool I'm using GPU-Z. To be hones't I haven't checked the BIOS version, will do so in a second though and write again sorry.

    Also this is my first post on this forum :) and thanks for the moded bioses mate.

    Erm I just restarted and checked the BIOS. For BIOS version I have A11, should that be something different, something moded ? Also I have a million questions and a lot of info on this laptop :) so I'll be writing a massive post soon :p. I'm currently running the 306 driver for the GPU. The BIOS flashing was successful but there is no change in the version also even before restarting I opened up HWmonitor ran a game and it still said 1.000 v ?

    if the bios is modded, you should check bios mod text at the top of the setup menu.
    [IMG]

    make sure you installed the propper version , for example, if you have a 525m gpu and if you installed a 540m bios mod, there will be no changes at the voltage at all.

    as for the moment, there are just modded voltages for the video bios, we are currently looking in another forums to unlock menus and advanced features, but that probably will take some time ^^

    I'am running also the new 306 drivers from nvidia and my voltage settings still working for me modded bios, my gpu is allways 0.85v on 2d and 3d profiles.

    make sure you flashed the correct bios, I currently own a 525m card instead a 540m, however 540m users said they have no issues with the bioses.

    if you are sure you flashed the correct bios, try using 296 drivers, I heard it changed voltage for some people, but for others just work fine, idk if the drivers can be cause but you can try ^^

    well, advanced bios modding is not an easy subject, at least for me, I admit I am a bit lost now with the current tasks, so new help is allways welcome :)

    well, as I can see, you are using nvidia inspector to overclock/change the voltage of the card.

    some user did the same and he encountered troubles.

    my advice is dont use the nvidia inspector overclocking tab, it dont let to OC the core and it create issues with voltages, I will update the first post.

    I dont know how to undo the changed made by nvidia inspector.
    try set the values to default, close nvidia inspector, and restart the system.

    use hwmonitor to monitorize the voltages.

    if the voltage still wrong, try completly unistall all nvidia drivers , restart, and install new ones again.

    you can also try the 296 drivers I mentionated.

    relating the bios project help, all help is welcome, so thank you in advance :)

    glad to know :)

    well, edit a bios is not an easy task, and it can cause permanent bricks to the system if not correctly done.

    anyway if you still want to try by yourself, check this whole topic, I remember I posted some info about how to do it, check also the topic I posted at the first topic.

    as for the moment I has been unable to change the bios logo, just edit the setup menu title, not sure if that is what you mean.

    I used 3 things to mod this bios.

    * PhoenixTool.exe 1.93 (to disasembly and reasembly the bios)
    * nbitor (to mod voltages of the gpus)
    * a hex editor, to browse and edit other modules.

    @minhquan

    maybe a dumb question ^^
    but you have a l502x, right? :D

    (just to be sure it is not the cause about the flasher utility fail)

    well, while reading about the error itself, smm acronim seems to be "System Management Mode"

    did you removed or disabled any windows services by tweaking services.msc or msconfig?

    do you have all drivers installed correcly?

    PD: nice desktop background ^^

    well, I was talking at this time about all the computer drivers, chipset, usb,sound, and other stuff, specially chipset ones.

    well, I dont have any yahooID, I also doubt I can help you more eficiently by private messages since I have no idea about the cause.

    it looks like a service or driver issue, but not sure.

    do this also happen with official dell bios flasher?

    @all

    update!

    we are doing some progress on menus unlocking!

    on my tests I sucesfully unlocked the language selection at the bios and partially unlocked the advanced menus.

    the next mod phase is not ready yet, but I will relase the advanced menus as far I get them fully unlocked ^^
