    Fastboot works for me. I can reliably enable/disable it. Enabled, the laptop shows black screen then goes straight to the "Windows" screen. It cuts about 4-5 seconds off my cold boot time (doesn't sound like a lot, but boot time to Win8 is down from +-17 secs to +- 12 secs!!).

    thanks for the info! :)

    not sure why it didnt worked for savior, maybe he modified also another options?

    well, anyway I think I will test that option too, I was just a little busy tring to unlock more features, I am now taking a look to the security modules, maybe its posible to unlock the computrace feature, so you can enable/disable it all the times u want :3

    Fast boot works for me too. Good thing too, the logo boot was so slow.

    Yep same here - but I couldn't notice much of a difference.

    With or without the logo, it takes about 1.5-2.5 seconds for BIOS POST to finish.

    @capitankasar

    Thank you so much!!!

    Its L502X_A06_540m_83_85_Unlocked_Menus_v3.rar working great I can now use Fast Boot and what i wanted from the day one Wake on Lan so dont have to even open the laptop lid, now i can use this option as well Processor Fast String really boost things up x2..

    The only option is not working is still the PEG wont take effect or show any difference but to remind it dose work with A09 from few pages back..

    I did play game two hours both days but it dose crash on third hour but i can re-start and can play again for two hours..

    Please keep Computrace option disabled or alone, bad people can take negative advantages you know what i mean!

    I am very happy!

    Thank you all for hidden features, keep it coming :)

    @zulqar

    glad you liked it :)

    well, I made the same changes to all bioses (well, in some newer versions I unlocked more menus and stuff) but it should work the same.

    I'm curius about those crashes.

    do they were there with other modded bios or stock bios?

    if no, try load default bios settings, and modify ONLY the ones you need, this means stay away from menus you dont need, I noticed entering on some of the last menus produce negative changes on the computer performance, so use them only if necesary ^^

    about the computrace thing hacking.

    well, it is a dilema, since I started this bios mods, I read toons of people cpomplaining about they wanted to enable or disable the computrace thing.

    so I dont really know wich of them are legit people asking it for good reasons and wich of them not.

    is like a dilema ^^

    thanks for your comments :)

    Hi capitan,

    congrats for your achievement.

    I've been using your A11 generic mod v3 for the last 4days. It's perfectly ok except heating issue.
    quick boot working, memory overclock doesn't work. most of the other options i don't understand.

    can you make one with undervolting and unlocked menus?
    my card is 525m.
    need A11 .83/.85
    Thanks and keep up the good work. :)

    @dhaneshbc

    thanks ^^

    wich overheating issue? :eek:

    do you mean the generic bios was not undervolted?

    well memory frecuency option works, however you need capable cpu and memory to reach those speeds, else the bios will lower the speed of the memory again.

    allright, here you have your custom bios ;)

    L502X_A11_525m_83_85_Unlocked_Menus_v3.rar

    all v3 options included plus the password lenght unlocked options from the security menu ;)

    overheating of 525m since it runs @750, 1050. the unlocked bios you gave earlier was not undervolted.

    about the memory overclock, i have a stock hynix 4g stick @1333mhz and gskill 4g rated 1600mhz. so the system runs @1333mhz. hynix is not able to run@1600mhz and gskill is not able to run@1866 either :(

    thanks for the speedy reply :)

    Sorry to keep pestering you, but can you make the 83 85 A06 bios for the 525M? I accidentally installed the one for the 540, surprised it didn't break anything xD.

    Actually I'm surprised nothing happened, because I thought the vbios was sent the the card every boot. Guess it didn't accept the 540 bios and had a backup on the card or something.

    @adeebm

    haha, dont worry about ask mate, it makes me happy that people enjoy my modded bioses ;)

    also if you installed one of my bios for the incorrect card, it will not damage your computer, is just that your computer will load the unmodified vbios and the GPU changes will not be noticiables, but it will not cause a brick ^^

    remember the l502x bios have both video bios for 525m and 540m, it just pick the propper one depending on your hardware ^^

    but if you picked the wrong mod for your card, obiusly the gpu changes done by the mod will not be noticiable.

    well, enjoy the bios ;)

    we are working at the bios recovery feature to be able to recover the laptop from all or most of bad flashes.

    I'm also giving a deeper check to the l502x a11 bios estructure, my objetive is to unlock the native uefi shell and another features.

    About the fan settings. You can set Low Fan Speed temperature and High Fan Speed temperature. But for my machine it doesn't work. Even when the temperature exceed Low fan speed, sometimes the fan doesn't spin. Same for High fan speed temperature range, sometimes it's on Low speed or it's not spinning at all.

    I underclock to 550 on my 540M original bios to stop crashing. After using the A10 0.83v/0.85v, my FPS dropped and I crashed within 5min of gaming using default clock. What should i do?

    Your GPU underperforming it's specs. Either underclock even more, or use default voltages.

    OR, find some way to get Dell to replace your motherboard. They don't take faulty GPU as a excuse in my experience though.

    Just flashed the BIOS mod for my cousin's L502x/GT525m. Just have one quick question: are the modded BIOS (not VBIOS) unlocked so all the advanced performance and thermal settings options are available? I've been looking around the modded BIOS and I don't see any of those settings.

    Did you check that you flashed the correct version? What text is at the center top of the BIOS menu?

    FYI All the BIOS settings are at the bottom of the 'advanced' tab.

    and make sure you selected "Flash_the_modded_BIOS.bat" unlike what I did once ;)

    I will check the bottom of the Advanced tab again in the morning, but I am sure the flash took. The top of the BIOS read "BIOS MOD 525M VERSION", and the voltages read correctly with Nvidia Inspector. At the bottom of the advanced tab it read miscellaneous devices and then only two settings within that option. Should there be more?

    EDIT: Yes, I am sure I flashed the correct version.

    I think that's supposed to say modded menus or something

    Yeah, they should be there. The modded menu BIOS mods aren't on the first post, use this:

    If you did use that one, then maybe the link is broken? - try an earlier V2 generic version from here:

    @swatkxs

    thanks :D

    well, about graphics, think there isn a lot to unlock at the moment, voltage mods and some menus relating graphical options already has been unlocked.

    what else you have in mind? :)

    @radji

    like savior said, the new unlocked menu bioses arent at the first post yet, it still a work in progress and the versions posted are mainly for testing, however since they are already working fine, and we are working now on the recovery method I think I will start uploading them, :)

    modiffing the modded menus to incorrect options can cause the system to not boot, however that is not a permament brick, all you need is remove, power adapter, main battery, and then remove the cmos battery for a minute, that will reset the bios settings to default.

    I didnt need to use that yet ^^

    @Maisi

    glad you liked it :)

    mmm, nope, I didnt modified the thermal settings in my case, some users said the thermal options have no effect, and some others said the fan spin more often, so that is why it still being tested ^^

    I didnt used that menu a lot, just disabled the hyperthreading (an option I was really looking for in the stock bios) and enabled fast strings, wich aparently improve performance a lot, enabled also the diagnosis screen, I didnt liked the dell logo and I loved to have more info on screen.

    if for some reason the machine start freezing or doing weird stuff, go to the bios and load default settings, save, restart and enter again in bios modifing only the options you really need.

    it happened me once.

    Thanks, capitankasar!

    The BIOS is working, the advanced features are unlocked.
    But the Memory Frequenzy Control does NOT work. The CPU Flex Ratio Setting (FSB Multiplier?) as shown in your screenshot on first post is also missing.
    There are the standard DELL 8GB RAM in my L502X with Intels Core i7..

    Any Idea what I made wrong? Or maby this could be fixed in a V.4 version? ;-)

    @striker_lt

    thanks for reporting :)

    what do you mean with the flex ratio option is missing from the menu?

    I'm pretty sure I used the same modified module for menus I used in the bioses in the advanced section.

    if you mean it does not work, yes, it is posible, it didnt worked for my i3, tried raising it, but not worked, maybe it can be decreased anyway, or maybe that feature is just for the extreme edition proccesors, (the ones with unlocked stuff)

    about the memory frecuency, it seems to work only with compatible memorys, for example, if you have 1333 memory and you try 1600, it will not work.

    you can try check the modules names by phisically checking the stickers on it, or by using some software like aida64, and then check the speecs on google.

    anyway if it didnt worked I supose they are not capable of those speeds.

    also the cpu sometimes does not support the frecuency.

    anyway that option is reported to working by some members with compatible memory and cpu installed, they reported the options worked in bios and faster loading times on games and stuff ^^

    mmm, the v4 version probably will have more unlocked stuff and maybe some computrace settings unlock.

    but if some of those options doesnt work, I supose there is no way I can get them working ^^

    all I did was "unhide" them :D

    I supose some of them was already hidden for a reason ^^

    hi capitan
    is it possible to make .83/.90 volt mod for 525m?
    i'm using A11 .83/.85 with v3 mod and works fine except fan problem. it constantly switches on/off and is annoying.
    i want to oc my card little more but don't want stock voltage.
    if .90 is possible,an A10 bios with .83/.90 for 525m will be much appreciated. :)

    mmm, I can only set those posible voltages for 525m profiles

    0.83v
    0.85v
    0.95v
    0.98v

    let me know if you want 0.95v or 0.98v at the 3d profile and I will build a custom bios for you ;)

    I've been running the A11 GT525m 0.83/0.83 Bios mod for a while, and it was running nice & cool :D.
    A few days ago I flashed the unlocked menus bios (A11 GT525m 0.83/0.85), also running fine :)

    But I noticed that it is running a litte bit hotter, also the fan spins up faster.
    So if you could do a unlocked menus A11 GT525 0.83/0.83 bios mod, that would be great! :thumbsup:
    Thanks!

    You guys have done well. Congratz! :)

    Thankfully, I don't the BIOS recovery! (yet)

    Does this mean you can be a bit more "adventurous" with unlocking more menus? Since you now don't have the worry about causing permanent damage due to a faulty BIOS mod?

    exactly ^_^

    now we can do more agresive mods to the bios since we can recover the machine :)

    I sucesfully loaded an older bios to my laptop thanks to the recovery method usb disk.

    however I want someone with a bricked machine to test the instructions from the last section of the first post ^^

    else I may have to brick my laptop on purpose and test it then :D

    kasar,
    I should point out that taking out the battery is not required and moreover is not suggested when side loading the BIOS capsule. If the flashing process fails on you again after getting back into the OS, you have a chance of damaging the boot block if power outage happens ... then you wouldn't be able to do a thing with the laptop, only replace the board. The chips used by Quanta recently are surface-mounted, meaning they are a pain to remove.

    @timewalker

    oh, since jkbuha and others said that was neccesary at the other forums I though that was part of the process.

    I will edit the first post then, thanks for the info :)

    Actually they only assumed it was required .. and looked for a method that doesn't involve the battery removal (since 15z has it non-removable)
    Reading manuals is sometimes misleading lol... we've got all sorts of nonsense info from the Acer\Packard Bell's service guide, which turned out completely irrelevant.

    Hey Cpt :)
    I´ve made a little compilation of Screenshots, showing all avaiable Bios settings in this BIOS Mod. Since im from germany, i have posted these Screenshot in a (well know) german Forum, called Startseite - DELL XPS FORUM www.xps-forum.de - DELL FORUM

    Here is the link to the Picture Compilation: [XPS15] Advanced Bios Mod für XPS15 (L502x) - Zeigt versteckte BIOS Einstellungen - Treiber & Updates - DELL XPS FORUM www.xps-forum.de - DELL FORUM

    You may link to this Thread, as there are more Pictures than (german) words, so everybody could understand.
    And for sure i´ve mentioned you for all the credits ;)

    Version i have tested :

    Working fine so far, however i only disabled Hyper Threading so far. We should make a collection of alle Settings and what they do, and if they are properly working.

    As always, nice work from your side! =)

    Has anyone modded the XPS14 (L421X) BIOS?

    The XPS14's memory card reader is connected via the chipset's PCI-Express subsystem and so it is not bootable.

    Can this be "fixed" (memory card reader made bootable) by modifying the XPS14's BIOS?
