Hi,
I use gt540M
I tried 0,83 and also tried 0,98, some said it would fix the common freeze/crash people with xps 1502x have
When in game (playing warcraft 3) my external screen flickers times to time (every 10 secondes or so) for a duration of 0,5-1 second since i tried the modded bioses
What does it mean? What should I do?
-
@daryld1988
well, I wasn't paying too much atention to the upgrades latelly.
however when I saw your post I started downloading them.
thanks for the hint
@kgh00007
I added you at the first post.
also thanks a bunch for the comment
@Kronoz
well, 0.83v/0.98 is the stock voltage for the 540m so there is no modded bios with those volts
in 0.83v/0.83v case is well known to be unstable on the 540m, it works fine for some users with a 525m , but as far I know, there is not a single user which got 0.83v/0.83v stable with a 540m.
in your case, I would try the A10 0.83v/0.85v for the 540m.
most users have good results with that one, about the flickers at the screen I have no idea at all, it could be a strange symthom about the GPU is not stable at all with that voltage, idk.
try the 0.83v/0.85v and give feedback again -
I noticed the undervolted BIOS feature reduced temperatures, is this strictly regarding the GPU or would it decrease other components' temps as well?
-
-
Just thought I would give some more feedback since this bios mod is allowing me to keep playing BFBC2.
I have a tech around to do another job at my work and asked him about my overheating issues with the standard bios.
He suggested I call Dell and get it sorted - after all you shouldn't have to put up with underclocking your CPU to get your system working properly - currently I do the 99% CPU trick AND the modded BIOS to get BFBC2 to run without lockups.
So I called Dell and they were excellent - arranged for a replacement motherboard. I even told the tech that if he had any AC5 to use that for a repaste and also to remove the dust filter too if he was to come out to do the job and he said no probs.
So in preparation I rolled back to the standard A10 bios. Tonight, I can't play BFBC2, lockups galore. So I went back to the modded BIOS (0.85v) and haven't had a lockup since (1 hour of gametime). -
@knaff
thanks for the feedback
added you at the first post.
I'm also glad the mod helped you to get the crashes away ^_^
did you OCd the card? or playing with default clocks? -
-
First of all, I would like to thank you for the mods.
The 0.85/0.98 worked perfectly on my L502X (i3 + GT 525M).
I would like to know if there is any mod that can take my 525M to 0.85/1.00V, which is the GT 550M voltage.
Thank you a lot, and keep up the amazing job you are doing. -
@knaf
well, in that case I'm glad the undervolting helped to fix the crashes with stock values, some users reported similar problems on another forums, seems we found a fix for it.
@daniel2512
glad to know you liked the mods.
I added you at the first post ^_^
sadly I dont think 1V is posible on the 525m without hardware mods, as far I know 1V is only avalible as the 540m, and it is the highest voltage suported by the vbios.
oh, I was starting to thing I was the only one with an i3 at this laptop -
I just changed back to the undervolted A09. A10 on my laptop made the fan alot more busy!
-
@sevenofnine
wich A09 version? so I can add you to the list at the firs post
@all
important, anyone know a good mediafire alternative?
I heard there is some troubles comming with mediafire, so I will need to reupload the bioses and files to another hosting asap. -
I just switched to modded Bios A10 0.83/0.85V for GT540m.
3Dmark2006 runs without errors. -
Anyone tested the A10 0.83/0.83v running on batteries?
Mine surfing the internet with 40% bright and wife on says 4 hours of batterie
but running a game (Warp) it only runs for 45 minutes. -
added both to the first post
@gilipollas
lmao, gilipollas nickname sounds me to a very familiar word on spanish xD
@wendiko
mmm I think mine gamming last arround an hour with the 0.83 0.83 A10, high perdormance profile and throotle stop running to prevent slowdowns in game -
@capitankasar:
Jeje, soy hispanofilo
Btw, thanks for the modded bios -
@gilipollas
jajajajayo igual ^_^
but lets keep english at the topic
pleased you enjoyed my modded bioses ^_^ -
The A10 mod worked flawlessly too - I just found it made the fan on my laptop a bit noisier than it was using A09.
Also...Mediafire... say it aint so! :'( -
@sevenofnine
you are already added at the list
well, about mediafire,I think it may be a false alarm, I just read some info on a serius spanish site.
however, having also some mirrors for the bioses could be nice too ^_^ -
Phew! I hope the whole Megaupload thing doesn't mean that Mediafire etc go the same way...
-
Hi there capitankasar...I really appreciate for all the efforts and hardwork you've put into modding the BIOS for L502X users..I'm using your undervolted A10 BIOS mod for GT525m (2D PROFILE: 0.83v, 3D PROFILE: 0.83v) for over a week now and its working flawlessly for me without any issues....thanks a lot for that..added reputation to you..
One thing I'd like to know that you've mentioned in your sig, you're using undervolted BIOS mod and at the same time you've overclocked your GT525m. So could you share your overclocking values here, you may have mentioned it before but I'm a new user here and rarely visit here...awaiting response.. -
@sevenofnine
me too, megaupload thing was just sad :/
@alvester
thank you for all those compliments
also added you to the first post as bios user ^_^
yeah, I am using A10 0.83/0.83v 525m version, fully stable and temps really low with an i3
my OC values are 700/1400/915, other members were to higher values, but it seems my 525m chip doesnt let me go any higher, even tweaking the voltage.
anyway you may have more luck -
@capitankasar Thanks for the input..I'll try these clocks...well before undervolting I used to use GT 550M clocks for my GPU and they were running fine for me...GT 555M clocks were unstable for me after half an hour of gaming, maybe because GT 555M has 144 pipelines as compared to its GT 500M Series counterparts which have 96 pipelines. I haven't overclocked my GPU after undervolting it. Gotta try your clocks first, then I'll fiddle with my overclocking later. Thanks again. Keep up the good work.
PS: I have i7 2630QM processor. -
-
send me a PM when you unlock it, and ty very much for that generous offer -
-
email sent ^_^

Hi everyone, I just purchased a L502X, and am very excited to start pushing it around. I've read a lot of concerns about unusual random crashes with the GT540M card and playing video games. However, after reading most of the pages of this thread, there have been hints that undervolting the card maybe resolving the problem. Does anyone here have experience with this?
-
@JuntheKing
yeah, some users reported undervolted bios fixed their gt540 crashes with default clock speeds.
in your case I would give a try to A10 0.83v/0.85v -
I'm definitely going to start from the A10 0.83/0.85, and then go from there.
-
Just got my motherboard replaced under warranty due to heat issues.
Got the tech to repaste with AS5 and remove the dust filter.
With the A10 0.85 bios (and 99% CPU trick ) my temps when playing BFBC2 have gone down from 95C to 75C, a massive improvement.
Very very happy now -
@juntheking
good
let us know about how it works for you ^_^
@knaf
nice temps , glad it helped you ^_^
what model is your card? 540m or 525m? I supose you are using 540m but not sure.
let me know so I can add you at the first post
@all
added download mirror for all modded bioses, credits and huge thanks to ximinez -
I'm curious, is reverting to stock BIOS a simple matter?
-
Yes it is .
-
one of them flash the modded bios, and the another one flash the original bios.
just run the desired script -
So, I am running your A10 mod with .83v/.85v. GPU does seem to be cooler under load. When I watch the voltage in nvidia inspector, it seems a little weird to me. When I bring a windowed game up, it shows 1V for about 30 seconds before going down to 0.85V. Then when I minimize the window, it goes to 1V again for about 30 seconds before dropping to 0.83V. Is it actually cycling up to 1V, and is it supposed to do that?
-
@JuntheKing
I'm using the A10 0.83v // 0.83v mod for the 525m and it is allways on 0.83v, doesnt matter if I am playing, the system is idle, browsing.
mmm, I think it is ok if it only happen some seconds and it turn back to the desired voltage, anyway ask some 540m users since I dont have one to test it. -
Hi Capitan Kasar,
Great Modding!!!
Did you get a modded BIOS with the ability to remove Computrace?
It really bugs me that this spyware is on my laptop, i have no intention of using it and i dont really want it sending information back to the mothership without my permission
Many thanks! -
@satnam100
thanks
well i think you can already fully disable computrace by clicking on disable on the stock bios, however it dont let to enable it again. in my case it was what i did since i think like you at this subject -
I haven't bought the service however, I just want to reset it or make it selectable, any ideas?
Thanks! -
-
@Matrix5 I'll try that.
So I had overclocked the GPU and after a few hours of SC2 I got BSOD. Is that a typical symptom of the GPU being unstable? After the computer rebooted, and everything was back to stock clocks, I started SC2 again and got an immediate BSOD. This time after I rebooted and started SC2 it has been fine so far. Was the second BSOD atypical since I had already returned to stock clocks? I'm paranoid because of the issues I've heard with the L502X.
Sorry, I know its sort of off topic but I like this thread... -
Well I play SC2 as well and have no problems. Normally when the GPU is at fault (ie overclocking too far) the system will just freeze and you need to hold in the power button. - Ive never had a GPU related BSOD, only tonnes of freezes lol.
The BSOD possibly is a problem elsewhere; check as usual:
-Ensure all drivers are current
-Check RAM (reinsert and clean connectors)
-Run other programs to make sure it's not just SC2
-Do a stress test to see if it still happens (Furmark is good)
etc
If all else fails - Call Dell if it still persistantly BSODs - it would probably be a problem with RAM or GPU-RAM. (or Motherboard - who knows!)
Hope it works out
PS What were your OCing values? -
I had my OC at 815/1010 using .83v/.85V I saw no artifacts in Furmark for about 15 minutes. Then I played SC2 for almost 2 hours before BSOD.
How do you recommend stress testing? -
Run Furmark, (search on google and download from a legit site
)
It will stress the GPU -
How long and what settings?
Thanks! -
Default will be fine, if nothing abnormal happens after about 15mins then it is probably not the GPU.
-
Juntheking i dont think that the overclock is the problem , sounds like driver issue to me , if you made any changes recently reverse back to the original settings .
-
I agree that the BSOD was probably not from GPU OC from what I have read on google. Also, I ran furmark at stock and 800/1000 for 15 minutes and had no issues. I did one pass of memtest and no errors showed up.
I think I just need to wait until it happens again...*sigh* -
@juntheking
if you are already using the modded bios, it could be related your card doesnt handle undervolt pretty good at all.
I would try reverting to stock bioses or overvolted bioses instead.
do the problem persist with stock or overvolted bioses?
edit: well, just try to switch bioses if you keep getting BSODs even after the clean windows install -
@captainkasar
That's a good idea. I will see if I can get the BSOD to show up again. If it does I'll try switching back to stock bios. What is the difference between stock bios and overvolted bios?
L502X modded bioses download (GPU voltages and more!)
