I really cant take this anymore....
Intel GRaphics control is real culprit here ...
the colors are over saturated and particularly red.. My eyes are paining..
when i tried to reduce the saturation in intel control panel , it acts stupidly weird , lets say a scale from -10 to 10
0 - normal ( over saturated colors)
1 - more oversaturation
2 - BRigtness increaases for no apparent reason
3- brightness + contrast increases
4- more saturation raise
and soo on
-1 the color shift to blue spectrum
-2 the color shifts back to normal 0
-3 the color seems to shift to pink
-4 for no apaprent reason brightness falls
-5>>-10 saturation drops normally , but along with brightness
is wrong with the intel control panel ?![]()

same goes to changing contrast...![]()

There is no uniform color reduction , ie saturation , contrast , brightness , for each value , the said property has its own way of changing ...

any solution ? -

I am still cant figure out the right balance of color Vs Contrast/gamma ..
Please need help -
Naveen_Reloaded Notebook Consultant
gamma difference is not more smooth .. each value seems to have mind of its own. the gradient level of change is not there .
-
I noticed the exact same thing...kinda frustrating ! Now in the intel igp control panel I have the brightness at -10, red saturation at -25, blue saturation at -10, green at 0 (default) and its not too bad....my backlight is around 60% as i'm usually in low light. everything else is default. colors seem natural and blacks seem a bit blacker...like a grey haze has been removed. Its good enough until i can get a real calibration done

i tried your setting , for me its a slight improvement , but still the screen looks washedout
the screen for me look little pale.
any suggestion ?
Really thanks for the suggestion.. will meddle with each color.. STUPID INTEL
off topic :
I think its more to do with the stupid Intel graphics setting , i think this whole optimus stuff is driving me crazy , why cant they directly let the nvidia , more expert in this handle these stuff , intel cant even get thier gradual setting for gamma / saturation right -
go into the nvidia control panel and then click "adjust desktop color settings" on the left. then select "use NVIDIA settings" then you can adjust from there...i havent toyed with that yet...my screen looks pretty good now...you did turn the brightness down to -10 right?

i worked some , can you give your feedback

the stupidity of Intel controller is when we are about to find the sweet spot , the whole color combination changes irrespective of contrast , brightness , color difference.
And I cant install intel new X media controller , it says , i need to contact dell ... -

yes , i have posted few changes on both cpanels. Still that red is so bright..
update : under nvidia , increasing brightness for red and reducing GAMMA for red seems to somewhat solve the stupid bright red issue
I wish some one expert in screen calibration comes out with some value combination so that the stupid red doesnt glow -
My reds were really good with what i had above, then tried your settings in the intel panel and it became a nightmare real quick, i then tried my settings again and the reds were bright and the color balance seemed way off, tried a few more times before it became the way it was earlier, i then saved my settings in a couple different profiles. reds are now tame and natural. what a quirky control panel...sometimes you set the colors then they change when you apply. not touching it again for awhile.
Maybe keep trying mine and saving them before you apply...might actually get what I got.
first start with all default and then under all colors set the brightness to -10, then go into the colors ....red -25, green 0 and blue -10. Brightness should be already be -10 under all 3 colors. huge difference from default. I did a quick re-boot and the settings stayed the way i set them...whew!
anyway...gotta sleep, good luck -

i just found that when the screen comes back after sleep , the nvidia setting applied are lost.

went through display caliberation in windows 7 , and it seems to somewhat fix the bright red problem
-
hi, i am having exact the same issue. i made the setting as per Naveen_Reloaded, it is improved, but the laptop will not keep the settings when resumes from sleep or restart. any advice on that? thanks
-
Have you tried using Windows own Display Color Calibration Wizard? Does that work with what you have done, or is what you have done totally different?
-
i tried the Windows color calibration tool, but could'nt find a good one too. Red is a little annoying.
-
You can reduce the red using the Display Color Calibration Wizard.
-
Display Color Calibration Wizard does not help at all. red is still shouting at me
