Up here in Canada, Dell's web site only offers two options, the Intel 1000 or the Intel 1030 for $20 more. I'm thinking about getting a L502x, but I want 5GHz 802.11n...

    Three questions:
    1) Has anyone managed to get anything else by calling Dell Canada and ordering by phone?

    2) I can get a 6200 easily and put it in; a 6230 with bluetooth may or may not be much harder to find. Is the 6230 the best card out there?

    3) I assume there's no problem (e.g. missing LEDs) replacing a card that doesn't include BT with a card does?

Well the 6230 is just a shrunk down version die of the 6200 with BT smacked on.

It is currently cheaper than the 6200.

The best intel wireless card is the 6300, which requires 3 dual band antennas.

All depends on what your router supports. Unless you have a brand new router with 3 dual band antenae's on it, the 6300 will do you no good. The 6230 is the best overall for performance and integrated bluetooth. Once a 6330 comes out, I will switch for that as I have the Cisco e4200 Ultimate. This router and only a handfull of brand new others can reap the full benefit's of the 6300, and you lose bluetooth with this card.

FYI, if anybody else stumbles on this thread, you CAN order the 6230 by phone in Canada.

    430-4048 Intel WLAN-N 6230 and BT 3.0 (L502X)
is what my order confirmation shows.
