Hey forum, I'm hoping someone here can help me out.

I have an L701X which I loathe but being unemployed right now I can't afford another machine so I'm stuck with it. I have a 2 bay Thermaltake BlacX HDD dock that I connect through the esata port.

The problem is that when connected via esata it only recognizes 1 HDD because the esata port doesn't support a port multiplier? Is there a way to fix this in order to make the port BE a port multiplier? (sorry about my lack of knowledge here, not really sure about how else to describe the port multiplier thing and I'm sure I sound like a noob.)

If anyone knows how to fix/work around this PLEASE let me know.

    Thanks again!

Nope, it is a single port ESATA only. Port multiplier ESATA ports are rare if they even exist. The ESATA is plugged into one SATA header on the mobo (well it's soldered to it, but you get the gist). In a desktop you can't even see two HDD through one SATA port. The 2-bay docks are meant to either use one drive or the other usually.

Thanks @madmattd weird though because I used to use the dock with my M1330 and I could access both drives via esata no problem...although I used an expresscard. Just wish this thing had an expresscard slot. oh well.
