Hello
I bought a Dell XPS 17 3D laptop from the Dell outlet store. Before I purchased I was told it had this memory:
K0YTF
12 GB Triple Channel DDR3 1333MHz (3 DIMMs)
My receipt shows
K0YTF 1 Module,Dual In-Line Memory Module,12G,3X4G,1333,D3
I loaded CPU-Z and it says Dual for the memory.
Is there a way to confirm I have triple channel memory?
I'm going to open it up and not sure what I should look for.
Thanks

You only have dual channel memory...3 dimms does not mean triple channel. Only the x58 chipset (and only super-performance laptops have this chipset as it is a desktop chipset) has triple channel.
The l702x is dual channel only. And when you have mismatched channels like you do (1 stick on one channel, 2 on the other), dual channel isn't even running. Get a 4th 4GB stick and you will have true dual channel back. -
Thanks for the info.
Do you think not having triple channel memory is that big a deal? I still have time to return the laptop.
I'd like to keep it because it was a great deal. -
Keep it. You can't get a triple channel laptop anyway (aside from spending about 3 times as much money), and even desktops have gone back to dual channel. There are benefits, but not worth the price. Enjoy the system instead.
