Anyone know if the so-called Mac-only mDP -> VGA converters work on our l702x? I would guess they do, but one never knows sometimes. Looking at the cheapest option on Newegg: Newegg.com - Mini Display Port to VGA Female Adapter for Mac.

Alternatively, I could get a mDP -> DVI and use one of the several HDMI->VGA adapters I have from my desktop video cards. Might give me the best flexibility? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812816156

Doing a presentation for a school class next week so need to sort this out.

The XS L702x is a Mini DisplayPort but the item N82E16812816156 from newegg.com is a Mini-DVI there is a difference. be careful which one you buy.

I tested the method with the DP to DVI to VGA - its a no go - the digital signal can't be transformed to analog over these. I have all sorts of DVI-I // DVI-A adapters. The only one could work (I think) can be the apple one - direct link from mDP to VGA.
