    sure, give it a try and let us to know how it works for you :)

    about the password bios, well, while modding the l502x bios, I noticed the password, unlike other systems wich password can be removed by just removing CMOS battery, this password keep there forever, as for the moment I noticed it is being written on a protected area of the flash chip wich cant be accesible with any software, only with programer hardware.

    so you may need to use a master password from dell or something for that.

    Yeah I had a feeling that was the case alright, tried removing the CMOS battery.

    System is just out of warranty so it would cost way too much to get the master password from DELL. hmmm :/

    hi guys, many thanks to capitankasar the A19 unlock is working perfectly. couple of problems though.

    first I would like to know how can get the fans to kick into hi gear ealier. I found Trip points under thermal properties of the BIOS but i dont know if these cause the CPU to throttle to reduce temps (not what i want) or the fan to kick in earlier/higher speed. Does anyone know or know a piece of software that will allow me to log CPU clock speeds and usage while gaming?
    Speed fan still does not work for more than 20 seconds before reverting to defaults.

    Second is the GPU voltage unlock did not work, neither MSI afterburner nor NVIDIA control panel can change the Voltage.

    Thanks!

    @roosta

    :)

    idk about monitoring software for the CPU clocks, however you can force the CPU clocks to keep on by disabling intel speed steep tecknology, dinamic fsb, and cstates

    I managed to get that working on my xps 15 i3

    about the GPU I posted two versions, one of them have the tweaks sharadeos made to the GPUs.

    as far is not posible to change the voltages of the xps laptops by software, just by flashing a modified vbios.

    that is what sharadeos made for the xps 17, and what I did for the xps 15

    Sorry everyone about that. Ya I have the 3D monitor version. When I ordered it they sent me the wrong laptop. the service tags don't even match in the system to the stickers. I ordered the one with non 3D but 1080 screen and 2 500gb HDD plus 8gb of mem and the low end wifi card with the 555m. But they sent me the one with the 3D screen, 4GB of memory, only 1 500gb HDD, XFi, and the best intel wifi card that was offered. Yes I did make them send the other 4gb of mem and HDD, they sent it out and was at my house with some person to install them in 2 days. So I "WAS" supposed to have Optimus

    Thanks Capitankasar for continuing Sharadeos' great work.
    Flashed to modded A19 with GPU overvolt today, works like a charm.

    Couple of questions: any of you successfully tweaked the BCLK and/or RAM timings on the L702X? If yes, what tool(s) did you use?
    None of these options show in the new unlocked menus sadly. I've tried CPU-Tweaker to adjust RAM timings from Windows, but the values I set don't save; is it because the BIOS has locked default values?

    Thanks!

    EDIT: I tried Intel XTU, the max available BCLK is 100... which is the default value. I can lower it but not increase it... Some guys on other forums managed to increase it slightly (~105) on the same CPU (2670QM) but different platform (AlienWare).

    @fixdgchd

    it is pending to be tested.

    need someone with 1800 compatible memory to test the option.

    it is selectable in the motherboard but still need to be confirmed.

    @bibichoco

    thanks :)

    well, I was unable to tweak BCLK on the l502x, i had same issue as you.

    jkbuha said he was able to OC the machine by using cloverefi, but only in macos, still need something working on windows ^^

    the 3d version dont have an intel gpu , if you readed the treath you would know, and for 3 displays, well i think the gt550/555m can handle it but it can backfire if you do it

    backfire as in overheat and smoke to death, use the mini display port for multi screens but i wouldnt recommer it since its a notebook

    not to mention its a single fan cooled notebook, it use 1 heatsink for cooling cpu/gpu/gpu memory and if you add an intel gpu it cause more heat and the fan cant keep up with it , i even added as5 thermal compound to reduce heat abit but even with as5 under it it still heats up to 83c and i dont even have the 1080p 3d i have the 900p version,

    This is not true. while i don't know anything new about activating intel gpu in modded bios (and don't think it is possible due to hardware bypass+ i have not seen this option on posted screenshot)
    1. you can use multiple displays and that does not cause overheat and the solution does not "backfire" in any way especially not smoke to death ;)
    2. you can use mini displayport (works very well)

    By the way, usb 3 is mostly a software/driver related issues, so if you disable power saving feature on the usb 3 controller, plus install the newest driver it should work fine

    Ahh, one more thing, do you want 3 external displays? I doubt that unlocking intel will help you in any way, you still get the slots you get, and your graphic cards is more than capable to display that without the onboard intel display chip. If you want 2 external and one internal, i think it's just enough to plug in one to hdmi port and one to mini displayport and it should work fine, once you set it up in windows

    i see, but to my knowledge if you game on more then 1 screen fps will drop so meaning it cause more srtess for the gpu, im gonna change my screen to a non 3d 1080p matt i know fps wil be lower than on an 900p screen

    - I really hope that intel gpu exist physically, just locked :)
    - I want 2 external + 1 internal displays. The problem is that from Nvidia Control Panel I can see all 3 displays, but when I try to make all of them active - I have a message "This GPU supports up to 2 displays" :( It's the same for Nvidia newest drivers 306 & 310 (beta)
    - when I try to do the same from Windows (Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1) - 3-d monitor is disconnected automatically.

    if you want 3 displays why not make a cheap micro computer ?
    a regular computer can support 3+ displays,
    but an notebook not, its a notebook, its meant for portable and not for 3+ displays,

    its called a notebook bcause its meant to make notes in the past , like text editing, photo editings its nothing compare to a regular pc,

    so dont expect to much from a notebook, if you do you might demage the device and i dont think dell will repair it under waranty,
    not that i care realy , just saying, if you want a notebook to act like a pc then your out of luck ,
    the unlocked bios is only meant for people that know what they are doing and not for people that want to overuse the hardware inside or force them to do stuff they arnt made for , just be happy it support 2 devices at the same time

    I want UEFI boot so I flash the L702X_A19_generic_Unlocked_Menus_&_updated_cpu_microcode.rar for my L702x which has CPU i7-2860QM, NVIDIA GT 555M + 3D.

    However, my CPU now look terrible, it is very slow.

    Is it because the updated cpu_microcode? What settings should I change so I can have everything default as A19, I only want the UEFI boot option.

    btw this uefi, is it true it blocks unwanted os? like linux mint, it dont want to boot when its enabled

    @i007,
    do you have powersaving on? if so change it to perfprmance or make acustom power plan, and uefi is located at the boot section in advanced options

    Before I installed the mod BIOS A19. I have Windows 7 and the CPU is superfast. My laptop always having High Performance power plan never sleep.

    Right after install mod BIOS A19, I noticed immediately when I try to encode a video. It is super long to finished. It took like 5 hours for one video compare to like 1 hour earlier. At that time, I didn't think that the CPU is slower, probably it's just that video which take long to encode.

    Now, I have Windows 8 install with UEFI boot and try the Windows Experience Index. I saw the super slow index 4.6. I more convince now it is the mod BIOS A19 causing the problem.

    @i007

    * try go to bios setup, load default settings, save them, reboot & boot OS

    * test your stuff

    if that fixed your issue then:

    * enable the custom options one per one testing them properly to check if you are having issues with some option.

    keep in mind I experienced some bugs and slowdowns on the xps 15 machine wich have identical menus on the unlocked bios by just entering/viewing some of them like thermal menu.

    try stay away those and maybe other of the last advanced menus and check if that fix your issue.

    if it acts weird again load default settings again and tweak only the ones you need.

    I try to "Load Default Settings". The result still the same. Test the CPU Mark, only 2077 super low number.

    [IMG]

    I already using UEFI and install Windows 8. It will be a lot of work for reverting back to the original non UEFI A19 and reinstall OS in order to test the original A19.

    I decided to flash the A18 mod BIOS and I got back the CPU performance like before. CPU Mark score 6343. Windows Experience Index for CPU is good 7.4.

    [IMG]

    So still don't know the original A19 cause the CPU problem or the mod A19 BIOS. I will stay with A18 mod BIOS for now. Thanks for your help.

    well, I think I made the same changes to both versions, I cant remember now.

    could it be an issue of the A19 version itself?

    maximum ram for 3d version is 32gb, maximum ram for non 3d version is 16gb (this is due to 4 ram slots in 3d and 2 slots in non 3d)

    You don't need a modded bios to unlock that

    - you need a modded bios in case you want more than 1333 memory frequency (I unlocked 1600 this way)

    So guys, I just found this thread and complete all of the downloads for the modded bios. I was just wondering what everyone is running their GPU's at now? I had mine up to 800/900/1600 for the GPU clock/memory clock/shader clock, but my temperatures were getting up to like 90 degree Celsius.

    I'm running mine stable at 830/1660/1000. Max temp was 82C after a couple hours of Far Cry 3. That's a 40% overclock on the GPU btw :D

    This is with 32gb of mem running at 1600mhz
    and a Mushkin Chronos enhanced deluxe 240GB
    and a Seagate Momentus XT 750 hybrid
    I have also used about 8gb now for 2 ram drives mainly for caching and temp files.

    I am running my 555gt at 850 / 1000
    not getting any higher then 72c
    I am running a thermal pad that has 5 fans. tested a few out but this $30 china one turned out to be the best bang for the buck

    I also have changed my thermal paste to AS5. <-------the cheapest and best way to OC the best. The paste that dell puts on is TOTAL CRAP! I dropped temps of about 11-15 degrees.

    This is on the A19bios and the video voltage mod.. Works great and thanks again man.

    I would put some newer test scores up but after I made the ram drives it wouldn't let me test anymore kinda strange. But everything is running perfect and I have never seen a laptop this fast before. Man I wish they made these boards without the Vid cards on the damn main board. Looks like next will be a CPU upgrade unless I can figure out how to raid the 2 drives then I will get another SSD. If you want the best price and THE FASTEST get a Mushkin Chronos Enhanced Deluxe. These drives are amazing FAST!!!!!

    Thanks again for these bios mods you have made this computer tweaker very happy for a long time and have no need to get a new laptop for at least 2 years.

    ok new test update o_4ce1697b289f520e-0.jpg

    And they put the exact same stuff even on their most expensive laptops, like Alienware M18x. What the hell are they thinking? Even toothpaste would do a better job than their paste.

    What I have learned when OC the Graphics card is to never take the mem over 1000. There is really no need with 555m and its 3gb of mem. if you keep the mem at about 950 you can take the GPU itself to 850 no problems and even up to 900. The sweet spot is 800/1000 <----- I would say for sure have a cooler. But if you re-paste and have a cooler things should last ALLOT longer. I have ran the 800/1000 for a full total 8 hours of game play. See I am addicted to skyrim. Such an awesome game and great community of modders at Nexus. BTW i am running about 55-70fps on the game. And with the SSD the game starts in about 15-25 sec. Way better then the 2-5 min like before with a HDD. Amazed me like crazy when I saw that!

    hey , is it possible to mod fan speeds in bios ? , 2500 rpm is quite anoying, i rather have it run 750~900 rpm (low) continue (med) 1700-2200 at 55c and high at 79c max speed

    dont know if its possible to set that internal in the bios , but in the bios mod itself i cant change it ,

    let me know if its possible

    I saw some place in the modded bios a place that looks like you can change the fan speeds. And was considering altering it but after the repaste the timing of the fans seems to be set at a good point for less wear on the the device. I'll look into it some time this week and get back to everyone. Don't know when but i will try. School starts for the kids this week then for me the week after.
