    Hi all,

my L702x just arrived but I only have a drivers disk. I have checked the Disk Management and there is a 14.65gb partition 8.44GB is used. I'm guessing this is where the win7 is but how do I burn that or use it to do a fresh install and wipe the partitions? I've also see the "Dell Data Safe" local which can do a factory restore, but that's not a fresh install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chances are if the op got the drivers disc then the windows 7 disc was probably ordered. Regardless check your packing slip and see if a Windows 7 disc was even supposed to ship. If it was you can get in touch with Dell and they can get one to you within a few days along with any other discs they may of been missing. As an example I didn't have a disc to reinstall the Blu-ray version of PowerDVD (PowerDVD is not on the drivers and applications disc) that was included with my laptop but after checking with a few reps I did finally get one.

ah no. The only option I had was for a recovery disk but not an OS disk. I am on the phone with tech support right now and they are shipping me one, should have it by monday.

have you asked for the OS Media MUI Windows 7 (64 BIT) Resource DVD? have they charged you for it? it was an added extra to buy when building your system on the Dell website.

If it was the XPS L702x Resource DVD then that should have been included for free.

As for PowerDVD and the other bits of software, I found you can download those from the My Dell Downloads site. You only get a limit number of times you can download though

I asked for the Win7 Premium 64bit DVD, latest drives cd (the one that was shipped with the system was from Jan 2011) and the BR powerDVD.

I was not charged for any of these and they should arrive by Monday, sound like free express shipping too.

I always call back and have Dell send every single software CD/DVD that came with the system. I do pay for the OS DVD during payment also. They always ship the extra discs next day air.

The recovery disc in Dell's case is usually the os reinstall media.

In my case PowerDVD was not on the My Dell Downloads site. They did refer me there but even if it was it wasn't the correct version. I got PowerDVD 9.6 which had Blu-Ray playback capability.

got to love the proper naming of that option during the purchase process. recover disk =/= OS disk. I even called to ask if there was a matte screen option during the call we ran through the options. Sales rep advised not get the OS recovery disk as I could make one when the system arrives.

hey shinji which country are you in? When I asked them where to get PowerDVD, they took me through the setup for My Dell Downloads. I got PowerDVD 9.6 from there and the rest, Roxio, Dell software etc and burnt them all to DVD. I wonder if they have different Dell Download sites for different countries? I just plopped in my service code and it revealed all the software available for my laptop

anyway PowerDVD is great, I watched my first ever 3D blu-ray
