So as the title says and dells sales pitch this laptop is supposed to have a subwoofer producing thumping bass, but all I hear is mid and treble.
Anyone got some suggestions, I've tried turning the maxxaudio thing off and that seems to improve it believe it it not. But still not impressed.
Ive also tried the equalizer without any success.

    Thanks

We are still talking about a laptop so don't get too carried away and thumping bass would not be good for the internal parts. I think thumping is over doing it slightly on the sales pitch but it should still sound better than any other laptops around.

"relative" to other laptops, it is "thumping" base. Compared to anything with drivers larger than a clock radio, it's not.

I agree with Mark above... but just to be sure, you can always look under the keyboard and make sure the subwoofer lead was plugged in at the factory. If not, it would sound like what you described.

    Below is a pic.

thanks all. Yes I also thought because its a laptop your not going to get that thumping bass as the hard drive wont be too comfortable with that, but then I started seeing people commenting on the quality subwoofer and reading Dells description got me thinking something is wrong with my setup.

I might just check inside, I do feel a light vibration but it could just be from the standard speakers. To be honest I prefer headphones anyway.

the sound from the laptop wont be better than any 2.1 setup but it certainly is alot better than most laptops out there so maybe u should try to compare it to another laptop. also i have my maxaudio's bass set to like 60 and its pretty noticable.

I do think that the wireless card could be upgraded but what sort of wireless card do you want to upgrade to?

Much powerful one, like the Intel centrino advanced N 6200 for example.

Yes, you do... if we are talking about a Dell XPS 17 L702x.

    Here is the process:

    1. Remove the battery
    2. Remove the bottom covere
    3. See below-

I take my L702X, crank the tunes, flip it upside down and put it in my car...it shakes the mirror and rattles everything man....

    ...just kidding.

It's a 1" sub, what do you expect?

It puts out some bass. I got in trouble from the neighbors for rattling their walls when listening to "Wind beneath my Wings".

This is by far the best bass response I have seen in any subwoofer equipped laptop. I just hate that one of the speakers is under my left palm...

I expected "thumping" bass as spoken by the Dell. I guess I should have read the small print that it only audible to ants.
