can anyone tell me what the problem here is on my picture (the gray vertical lines)?
I hope there is a solution beside replacing the screen
I am suspecting i would have to replace the whole LCD screen

    thank you

    Hi,

From the picture it looks like the issue is with the LCD screen itself. Running a LCD BIST diagnostics on the system will help us to confirm the same. Please find below the link for Dell Support web site, you may use the same to read the information about how to run the LCD BIST diagnostics. If the vertical lines are visible during the test, you may consider replacing the screen.

I hope this helps. Please do write back in case you need any further assistance.

It could very well be an issue with the screen itself, but I would actually try reseating or replacing the display cable here first. I feel like I've seen something like this and isolated the issue to said cable.

Hook the computer up to an external monitor. If the grey lines are on this screen, then it's the video card. If the lines disappear then it's the screen.

used hdmi n displayed fine on my external monitor. so VGA is fine

    running BIST test gives me:

LCD Inverter - Unable to turn lamp on.
    Error Code 2000-0326

i guess you are right. I assume i should replace the inverter board? i assume the cable is fine?

    Compatible models:

Dell Inspiron XPS M1530 15.4" Series

    IMPORTANT!
Please compare your current inverter to the one pictured above. There are several different inverters that are used within these models. Some inverters might have different screw hole alignments.

Did you try reseating said cable? You really shouldn't ever assume with these things... it's always the "least" likely thing that breaks.
