When I first bought my current laptop, there were two manufacturer types of the glossy wxga+. Many people simply told Dell they were unsatisfied with their screen and requested the other brand which Dell swapped under warranty.

I've read that Dell is moving their product lines to LED Backlit and will no longer support the LCDs after 2009 or 2010. When LCD's have reached end of life (eol) will it be possible to have your LCD screen swapped for an LED backlit screen using the method described above (morality aside)?

Suppose there is a chance but only if there was actually something wrong with it. Don't know if you could just call up and say you aren't happy with it after 3 years even if it is still under warranty lol.

Probably would just buy a new laptop after that long myself, but it may be possible lol.
