    Hi all,

Just got a new 1647, and boy do I love it.

However the screen seems to be slightly off center? What I am talking about is inside the "edge to edge glass", the screen (the pixels you see lit up), is just ever so slightly tilted. The pixels start about a 1mm (or maybe 0.5mm) lower on the top left corner of the screen than the top right.

Anyone else experience this? Is it worth calling tech support for?

    Thanks :)

If you really want to go through the hassle of getting a screen replacement (in home service) which I do NOT recommend. I had my screen replaced by a tech, who replaced it wrong (the hinge on the left is messed up and the laptop groans when you open close it, i asked for a system replacement but dell says the "rgbled" is end of life LOL.. ongoing story right there...).

Or you can return your system, and re order. Which would take a little over a month to get a new system in the end...

Or you can send the laptop to dell they will fix it then send it back.. again a few weeks..

hmmmm well ive been laptop-less for like 4 months now so to finally have my xps is such a relief! definitely do not want to be without it for another month (actually physically cannot as have university stuff to do on it).

the only one of those options that is viable is in home replacement but your story is certainly off-putting. i wonder how competent the NZ techs are?

i guess i need to make up my mind as to whether i notice it or not and if it is worth the trouble

If it is noticeable i would go ahead with the in home service, but thoroughly look over every inch of your laptop before the person leaves.

I had my screen replaced and it was fine. No problems at all, but that probably depends on the tech themself. Mine was the nerdiest woman I have ever seen in my life, but she knew what she was doing. There's good ones and bad ones out there. Definitely look at everything before they leave, screen flaws, any cracks, etc as mentioned.
