does anyone know how long the LED backlit screen would last?

the led`s last about 11 years continuous use!
-
In terms of actual lifespan, I couldn't tell you. It depends on the screen itself, the way it's treated, etc.. The led backlight itself will last longer in the sense that it is less likely to burn out and will maintain it's brightness longer than the ccfl. It's also less prone to damage from shock and may be easier to replace than the traditional ccfl as it takes up much less room.
-
Longer than you will want the laptop. Most right now are rated for 50,000 hours which is 5.7 years if you used it left it on continuously. Plus, unlike CCFL, you won't see it dim as it gets older.
-
led`s do dim! - the power led`s on old tv`s and on keyboards as a example!
-
Yes, they will dim. But far slower than traditional CCFLs. In four years, your laptop will look nearly as bright as when you bought it, which is not something you can say about traditional CCFLs which may loose up to 50% of their brightness in that timespan.
-
LEDs also can change colour as they age. This could result in the screen having variations in the lighting.
-
How is the power consumption of the LED LCD compare to the CCFL LCD? How much better is it? I heard that it's also supposed to be thinner and lighter as well. Is that true?
-
Yes, it's thinner and 100g lighter than standard LCD screen.
-
which mean, better got the LED screen than the CCFL, isnt it?
-
LED vs CCFL power usage is something you can Google and/or Wikipedia in a few moments.
White LED's tend toward looking yellow with age. Nothing that can't be remedied with adjustments to display colour settings and probably nothing that you would even notice within 3 or 4 years of daily use.
Also, LED's do dim (as someone already mentioned). As with any gizmo that emits light, they will never last forever. The very act of emitting photons degrades the material doing the emitting. LED's have a half life (CCFL's do too). Over a given period, a LED will be half as bright (given the same amount of input power). The period may be quite long (50,000 hours or more), so you may not notice.
