About 3 months ago, I was deciding between 5 different brands of laptops (Dell, Sony, Lenovo, HP, Acer), and did a significant amount of research. The XPS 16 was my favorite based on the specs and price, but I saw that it also had the most complaints online. One of the reasons I decided to go with it anyway was that I saw Dell representatives taking an active role in trying to solve problems, in particular on this forum. I knew about the 90 watt adapter problem, but I saw Dell working hard and helping users to get the problem fixed, and figured that they would work hard until everyone was satisfied. But this is not the case.

After getting out the 130watt adapters, the Dell reps pretty much disappeared, but the problems have not. Many users have systems that still throttle (rendering it useless), including mine, just from playing a game for 10-20ish minutes. I would like to help Dell in helping us solve our problems (these are both users' problems and Dell's problems) but Dell is no where to be seen.

I feel as though replacing parts such as the motherboard (with an equivalent) would be a waste of time and resources for both me and Dell. I don't think this would fix anything, then I would have to call and complain again, get it fixed again, ect. until finally receiving a replacement system after countless hours. Now, I could be completely wrong here, and this is where having a helpful Dell representative could help. This rep could be honest and open about problems (as they claimed to be in the past). The rep can then suggest whether or not I indeed have a faulty part, or say that my system can never function properly unless certain specs change (i.e. get rid of i7 quad + 4670 combination). We all deserve answers.

I want answers too. I chose this Dell over a Sony F series of the same specs simply because I thought that Dell had me in their best interest. What I received was a laptop that acts like its a Pentium IV at best for more than 70 times the cost (P4s sell for about 15$ now if anyone wanted to know).

Dell-be honest, or put out a recall for those of us suffering from throttling.
