I have a pair of studio monitors and they really pick this noise up unless i use two surge protectors and my usb soundcard is connected. Somehow this is decoupling the ground loop as when i disconnect the soundcard the noise returns. If i try plugging the monitors directly into wall sockets the noise is terrible, like radio interference.

I've looked at ground lift adapters and such but it seems like my best option is to buy a power supply like the Kensington 120W ac/dc power adapter and remove the source of the problem but is there another cheaper 2 pin power supply just for the M1330?

In the meantime is there a way i can eliminate this noise other than running the laptop off the battery? I could just run off the battery but with all my gear connected it will drain pretty fast...

    Cheers.
