    Hey all,

Recently I noticed that my laptop doesn't automatically sleep like it used to. I have the option set to '1 Hour' for it to sleep, but it just doesn't seem to work. The screen turns off at the correct time and that, but sleep never kicks in.

It used to work fine. It worked perfectly to the point that it got annoying when downloading my larger Steam games as it would pause the download, so I would disable it (set time to 'Never') whilst downloading. I defaulted it back to '1 Hour' after my download had complete however.

Even when I set sleep to 3 or 4 minutes it still had the same problem. Also to note: I have my laptop plugged in to the AC (it's not running off battery).

So my question is: What could be preventing my laptop from sleeping and is this a serious problem that I should be concerned about?

And in case your wandering, I have a Dell Studio XPS 1640 so you have a rough idea of the specs + all my drivers are up-to-date.

    Any Help is appreciated,
    Cheers.

You running Windows 7 RC? I have a problem with that on my system and it just seemed to start a few weeks ago. i figured it was the OS and some update they did to it.

Well I fixed the problem. Under power options I went to advanced and in the Multimedia Settings I had to switch it to 'allow computer to sleep while sharing media'.

This is odd, because I don't share any media..
    What causes this?
